Hiring rules

• We are closed for handovers on the following dates (public holidays): 25th Dec, 26th Dec, 1st Jan, 2nd Jan and Easter Friday to Monday.
• We have variable minimum hire periods, which are longer over the peak season.
• No smoking or vaping in the vehicle or under the awning (if fitted). Failure to comply would result in excess cleaning fees.
• No cooking of strongsmelling foods such as curries inside the vehicle. Failure to comply will result in a $500.00 cleaning fee.
• No pets permitted.
• Vehicle Must be returned with full tank of diesel and AdBlue, gas refilled and grey/black water tanks emptied. Failure to do so will result in a Fee of $150.00, plus the cost of diesel, AdBlue and gas being charged.
• Please allow 4590 minutes to complete pick up and 1030 minutes for drop off procedures
• The vehicle must be returned clean. Dishes washed and put away, bench surfaces wiped down, sand and dirt swept outside. Failure to so will result in a Fee of $150.00.
• If adding a BBQ, this must be returned clean. Failure to so will result in a Fee of $100.00.
• If the awning is damaged, there is an additional $1,000.00 to be paid, on top of the excess due to high risk of damage.
• RUCs Road User Charges are additional and calculated via the vehicle's odometer reading at time of return. All Road User Charges (RUC) are charged at a rate of $0.09 per km.
• Road restrictions apply as follows: (a) Vehicles can only be driven on sealed/bitumen roads. (b) Vehicles are not permitted on Skippers Road (Queenstown), Ball Hutt Road (Mt. Cook), Ninety Mile Beach (Northland) and North of Colville Township (Coromandel Peninsula). Our vehicles are also not permitted on any ski field access roads.
• Pick up and return times must be between 9:30am and 4:00pm. Late returns (after 4pm) may incur an addition days' hire charge.
• Oneway hires are permitted but must be arranged prior and there will be a relocation fee or $1,500.00 (within South Island) or $2,000.00 (within North Island) and must be near an Airport.

  Hired Sunny in November 2025 for three weeks of adventure in South Island from Springlight. Did the handover with Shane who methodically went through everything with me. Nothing was too much trouble for Shane and even followed me back to the airport to drop off a hire car, then return to Sunny. Any contact with him before, during and after the hire was helpful and friendly. We had the bedding set up as two singles, which was ideal, as we didnt disturb each other during the night. The three way fridge and freezer was large enough for a decent shop. The camper had a very large boot. We were able to store all our luggage in it, leaving valuable room inside the van. Most of our trip was spent in free camps, so the addition of a large table and camp chairs that fitted neatly in the boot was a real bonus. The Fiat Campervan handled well, with six gears capability, we negotiated the twists and turns of alpine roads with ease. Thanks again to Shane and Springlight for a memorable holiday.

  Our experience with Spring Light was truly exceptionalwe couldnt have asked for a better camper rental for our family vacation. As a small company, they clearly pour their heart into ensuring every detail enhances your trip. The camper itself was thoughtfully designed for comfort, reliability, and fun, making it the perfect home on wheels. What really set Spring Light apart was all the extra touches included in the price. From the extra bed toppers and stocked kitchen supplies to the cozy, warm comforter linens, towels, and cleaning supplies, every need was anticipated. They even provided a camping table, chairs, and a four-bike rackwhich was an absolute must for our adventure. The convenience of an airport pick-up and drop-off service added another layer of ease to our journey. The detailed walk-through of the camper before our departure ensured we knew every nook and cranny, and the quick, friendly communication throughout the trip made us feel well cared for. A special highlight for us was the delightful surprise of Kiwi specialty snacks waiting in the campera small gesture that brought smiles to my kids faces. We enjoyed our travels so much that we even extended our trip without any hassle. Were already looking forward to our next adventure with Spring Light and wholeheartedly recommend them to anyone seeking a memorable, stress-free camping experience.

  Spring Light motorhomes saved our holiday as the previous caravan we had booked (from another owner) canclled our trip less than 24 hours from departure. Spring light provided a motorhome for us for our two week journey around the south Island less than 24 hours upon arrival to Christchurch. The Airport pick up and drop off was very convenient and made the trip stress free. The added edition of having free Wi-Fi in the Motorhome throughout the trip was very helpful for us to navigate our journey. The complimentary NZ snacks provided was a great gesture and introduction to Nz ! They came in handy for the long drives. I Would highly recommend this company if I return to New Zealand and would also recommend to friends who may do the journey into future.
