Hiring rules
- We are closed for handovers on Sundays and the following dates: 25th Dec to 1st Jan, and Easter Friday to Monday, plus all public holidays.
- We have variable minimum hire periods, which are longer over the peak season (usually 14 days).
- Pick up and return times must be between 9:30am and 4:00pm. Late returns (after 4pm) may incur an addition days' hire charge.
- No smoking or vaping in the vehicle or under the awning (if fitted). Failure to comply would result in excess cleaning fees.
- No cooking of strong smelling foods such as curries inside the vehicle. Failure to comply will result in a $500.00 cleaning fee.
- No pets permitted.
- Vehicle Must be returned with full tank of diesel and AdBlue, gas refilled and grey/black water tanks emptied. Failure to do so will result in a Fee of $150.00, plus the cost of diesel, AdBlue and gas being charged.
- Please allow 45 to 90 minutes to complete pick up and 10 to 30 minutes for drop off procedures
- The vehicle must be returned clean. Dishes washed and put away, bench surfaces wiped down, sand and dirt swept outside. Failure to so will result in a Fee of $150.00.
- If adding a BBQ, this must be returned clean. Failure to so will result in a Fee of $100.00.
- If the awning is damaged, there is an additional $1,000.00 to be paid, on top of the excess due to high risk of damage.
- RUCs Road User Charges are additional and calculated via the vehicle's odometer reading at time of return. All Road User Charges (RUC) are charged at a rate of $0.09 per km.
- Road restrictions apply as follows: (a) Vehicles can only be driven on sealed/bitumen roads. (b) Vehicles are not permitted on Skippers Road (Queenstown), Ball Hutt Road (Mt. Cook), Ninety Mile Beach (Northland) and North of Colville Township (Coromandel Peninsula). Our vehicles are also not permitted on any ski field access roads.
- One way hires are permitted but must be arranged prior and there will be a relocation fee or $1,500.00 (within South Island) or $2,000.00 (within North Island) and must be near an Airport.

Cancellations
Strict
- Cancel earlier than 45 days before the start of the booking and receive a full credit. Refunds available upon request (less any admin fees) and may take up to 30 days to process.
- Cancel between 45 and 20 days before the start of booking and receive a 90% credit. Booking fees will not be credited.
- Cancellations less than 20 days before the start of booking will not be eligible for any credit or refund.

Matthew 5.0Myself and three of my friends hired this van for a week long trip around the South Island of New Zealand. It was absolutely fantastic. The van had everything we need for the week and it was a great way to see the whole of the island. Shane, the owner of Eleanor, met me for the handover and orientation on our first day of the trip. He was very thorough and took his time to explain how everything worked in the van which was superb. We had a couple of issues during the week but he was super easy to get ahold of over the phone and everything was sorted quickly and efficiently. The van itself is relatively straightforward to drive. It is very comfy for four adults and comes well equipped with everything you might need for your travels. We hired the BBQ and used it several nights on our adventure. I cannot thank Shane enough for all of his help over the week. We all had such a fantastic experience renting the van and would highly recommend it to anyone keen on seeing more than just one or two places of the country.

Our camper van was everything we expected and Shane couldn't have been more helpful throughout the selection, rental, pickup and drop off processes. It really made our trip to NZ easy and memorable. I would highly recommend renting any of his vans and will seek him out again on our next journey back to New Zealand!

Incredibly fuel efficient, easy to drive, and filled with all sorts of gadgets and comfort items that made the trip feel absolutely amazing! Shane as a host was nothing short of spectacular, providing incredibly prompt responses and comprehensive information to put our group at ease, and assist with any sudden (not many!) issues that had arose! Would 10000% recommend SpringLight to any potential travellers and my friends and family! Would definitely rent a campervan from them again!
Scott 5.0We recently hired Eleanor, a motorhome from Springlight Motorhomes, and had an excellent experience from start to finish. Shane, the owner, was fantastic to deal withprofessional, friendly, and incredibly thorough during the handover. He made sure we understood everything we needed to know before heading off, and throughout our trip he was quick to respond to any questions we had. Elenore herself offered a genuinely premium experience. For a couple in our 40s, the space was nice and roomy, the near king-size bed at the rear remained comfortable even after two weeks on the road, the decent-size fridge, reliable central heating, hot water with good pressure and the 32" smart TV with streaming made it feel like we had all the comforts of home wherever we were. Our journey did come with a few unexpected hiccups: a tyre blowout, a cracked windscreen from a stone kicked up by an oncoming vehicle, and someone even hit the front of the van in a car park while we werent there damaging paint and busting the headlight. Thankfully, we had the Happy Camper level insurance, which we cant recommend highly enough. Windscreen and tyre coverage were included at no extra cost, and although we had to pay a $500 excess for the damage caused by the other driver, it was nothing compared to what we could have been out of pocket for without the top-level cover. Overall, we highly recommend Springlight Motorhomes. The motorhome was superb, the support was great, and we would 100% hire from Shane again on our next adventure.
Oron 5.0Overall, our experience with Eleanor was very good. The Camplify platform was excellent easy to use, clear, and efficient. Shane from SpringLight Motorhomes was outstanding throughout the entire process. He responded quickly and professionally to every question, always showed a genuine willingness to help, and even assisted us with transportation to and from the airport. In addition, he kindly agreed to store our hard suitcases during our trip, which saved us valuable space inside the motorhome. He was always available and ready to assist whenever needed, and we truly appreciated his helpful attitude. However, I would like to mention one issue that unfortunately affected our otherwise positive experience. We purchased the Happy Camper insurance, which limits the maximum liability for any damage to NZD 500. Upon returning the vehicle after 23 days, Shane inspected the motorhome and pointed out a small scratch on the lower front plastic section near the wheel. I initially thought he was joking, as it seemed like a minor and expected mark after a long trip in a large vehicle across New Zealand. To my surprise, he explained that he intended to repair it a process that, according to him, would require disassembly and reassembly, costing at least NZD 600. While I take full responsibility for any real damage I cause, I believe this specific case represents an excessive and unreasonable charge. Minor wear and tear, especially in such a low and exposed area near the wheel, should be considered part of normal use for a rented campervan. Charging the full insurance excess for such a small cosmetic issue leaves customers with an unpleasant final impression, despite an otherwise great rental experience. I hope this feedback will help both Camplify and SpringLight Motorhomes consider a more balanced approach in similar cases, so future travelers can end their trips on the same positive note they began.
