We travelled the length and breadth of the South Island ( close to 3000km) and the van was a dream to drive. The Mighty Merc was comfortable and reliable in every condition we put it through. The heating was amazing. We would happily hire the Mighty Merc again as dealing with Darren was easy and informative. Thank you Darren for helping make our 4 week holiday a dream come true for us.

We loved the South Island of NZ and the Mighty Merc meet all our needs. The campervan has everything you need. Darren was an excellent host and goes the extra mile to help. I would rent from Darren again.

We had an absolute wonderful time touring the South Island with the Mighty Merc. Darren provided us with so much information up front already and everything we needed was handy in the van. Also during minor hick ups Darren was so helpful and supportive. 10/10 recommend, would definitely book again!

The Mighty Merc did not let us down. Everything worked and we had a great time with zero hiccups. The van had everything we needed. Easy to drive, good fuel consumption. Darren also suggested some great hikes to do and had loads of information on the South Island.

We had a wonderful time in the van. The odd hiccup was attended to by Darren when we called him. Clear instructions on pick up and return as well as a comprehensive list left in the van made life easy. Would recommend Darren as a great host.

"The Merciless Merc" would have been a better fit for a name for this van. A vehicle with approximately 500k kilometers and plenty of issues. While Darren certainly is a profound guide on giving you information about the South Island of NZ, this vehicle is not suited for following his recomandations. From what should have been the travel of our lifetimes became an absolute nightmare. Out of 20 days in the van we had 4 severe incidents on distinct days: 1. Flat tyre, had nothing to do with the condition of the car, just bad luck 2. Windshield got a leak letting water pass to the electronics. The car basically became unmaneuverable. 3. Spare tyre we got as replacement was 10 years old lingering under the van. It bursted one week later. 4. Leak to the electronics made problems again, as the mechanic could not fix it shortly Apart from that the van had another few leaks wettening the whole car. We figured this was a very priceworthy offer. In hindsight we would have gladly payed a bit more to avoid those problems. Altogether we had to drive to 3 different workshop, altogether lost something like 4 full days of time. Additionally we lost a lot of independece due to having to rely on workshops so much. TL;DR: This is a van in a bad condition with potential to many problems. Darren might be a good person to rent from, however this van certainly is not. 1/10 recommend.

Darren was a fantastic renter. Flexible, cheerful and with clear communication. The van is spacious and complete, and surprisingly very fuel efficient, especially compared to smaller vans. Plus, it is a Diesel, so cheaper to fuel. We had a fantastic experience and would definitely recommend Darren and the mighty Merc. Cheers !
