Driving John is safe and easy, he is equipped with a smooth automatic transmission, brand-new Android/Apple Carplay Stereo & GPS. - Making travelling a breeze. John is kitted out with 2 camp chairs, a table, gas cooker, pots, pans, sink with electric pump and lots of other basics you might need. Full queen size air mattress - 2030mm long and 1520mm wide. The large solar panel powers a full 12-volt electrical system; powering the fridge, lights, charging ports, sink pump & more! John is Self-Contained meaning you can freedom-camp and take advantage of the self-contained only sites. This makes planning your stay easy and you will save on accommodation too. Additional information

DIESEL FUEL ROAD USER CHARGES APPLY At the rate of $0.09 per kilometre driven ($9.00 for 100 kilometres). Linen bundle includes 2 x towels, hand towel, tea towel, sheets, duvet, pillows and an extra blanket in case it gets chilly. We provide a full tank of diesel on departure, please fill on return.

Hiring rules

Diesel – return with a filled tank. All hires include a full tank upon departure.
Offroad driving ok, but no beach driving.
No smoking or vaping inside the van.
If cooking inside, use the air vents and open the sliding door & boot if possible.
Treat John as if he was yours.
Bring him back in the same condition. If an accident happens, tell me.
If used, please empty and clean the toilet before returning.
No oneway hires, sorry I don't have facilities for relocation.

Hirer must be 21 years of age or older.

Pricing

Hire Fee: From $130.00 per day
Service fee: $100.00

Cancellations

Strict

Cancel earlier than 45 days before the start of the booking and receive a full credit. Refunds available upon request (less any admin fees) and may take up to 30 days to process.
Cancel between 45 and 20 days before the start of booking and receive a 90% credit. Booking fees will not be credited.
Cancellations less than 20 days before the start of booking will not be eligible for any credit or refund.

Perfect experience with Big John! We traveled around the South Island for two and a half months with Big John and he was absolutely perfect. Spacious, comfortable, and luxurious it truly felt like we were driving around in a private suite on wheels. It had everything we needed, from a fully equipped kitchen to a super comfy bed, and most importantly we didnt have a single issue the entire trip. Darcy, the owner, was fantastic: super friendly, always available 24/7, and happy to help with any question or concern we had along the way. We wholeheartedly recommend!
