A few things to know before you hit the road in Betty: 🚭 No smoking or vaping inside To keep the interior clean and comfortable, smoking and vaping inside the camper is strictly not allowed. 🧻 Toilet and grey water must be emptied Please return the camper with both the toilet cassette and grey water tank emptied. If they’re not emptied, a $150.00 cleaning fee will apply. 🐾 Travelling with pets We may allow pets on request — just let us know ahead of time. If approved, pets must be properly restrained while travelling, which may reduce the number of usable seatbelts. ⛽️ Fuel requirements The diesel tank needs to be full when you return the camper. 🛣️ Road User Charges (RUCs) As required by NZ law for diesel vehicles, RUCs are additional to your daily hire rate and charged at $0.09 per kilometre. Distance travelled is calculated from Camplify’s pre- and post-hire checklists. 📏 Included distance and extra kilometres Your booking includes 200 km per day, averaged over your total hire. Extra kilometres are charged at $0.75 per km. 📄 Driver requirements All drivers must be at least 25 years old and hold a full driver’s licence. If your licence isn’t from NZ, please also bring your passport. 🏔️ Where you can drive Betty’s not set up for ski field roads, unsealed/gravel roads, or beach driving — so please stick to sealed roads only. 🌬️ Using the awning The awning should be packed away in strong winds, heavy weather, overnight, or anytime you leave the vehicle unattended. This protects it from damage. 🍛 Cooking smelly food To keep the space fresh and pleasant for everyone, we ask that you don’t cook foods with strong odours (like curries, fish, or fried foods) inside the vehicle. These smells can linger in the upholstery and be hard to remove. You’re welcome to use the outdoor portable BBQ, which is perfect for these types of meals. Thanks for helping us keep the camper nice for the next traveller!

  These hirers were absolutely amazing. They literally rescued us from the roadside, when our prior booking had to be cancelled due to a vehicle fault. They responded quickly and went all out to get us on our way to enjoy our holiday, giving us a superb handover and instructions about their awesome van Betty. We would happily take Betty on another adventure in the South Island.

  We had such a wonderful family adventure in the motorhome! The hire process was easy. It was clean, comfortable, and reliable the whole way. Travelling this way gave us so much freedom to explore and made our trip extra special. The kids absolutely loved it, and well definitely be booking again for our next family holiday! Ian was happy to meet us at the airport for the Handover process making it so easy to board our flight.
