Here are a few pointers for a smooth trip: The cruise control is passive rather than active so it does not adjust as you get close to the vehicle in front. The heads-up display seen in the video is not installed in our motorhome but there is a smartphone holder with a nearby charging point to take your mobile phone. The standard NZ plug sockets in Coddiwomple only work when you are on a powered site, but the battery that runs the habitation lights, water pump and heater is topped up by a solar panel and also when you drive, so you should be able to spend a couple of days off-grid before you need to use a powered site to top it all up again. Please be advised that the toilet in Coddiwomple requires special, easily dissolved toilet paper, which we will supply. Do not be tempted to replace the supplied toilet paper with more luxurious paper as you risk jamming the toilet mechanism – we would hate for that to happen to you! You might find the apps Rankers NZ and CamperMate useful to help you plan your holiday. They are both a great source of information for motorhomers. We use Google Maps for navigation but always allow extra time for travelling in Coddiwomple and enjoy the scenery, and the local cafes. Diesel prices vary widely and the Gaspy app can help you to find the cheapest nearby diesel when you're on the road.

Hiring rules

• Please look after our motorhome like you own it and leave it clean and tidy.
• When you pick up Coddiwomple, this is what you’ll get:
• • Basic linen is supplied: Tea towels, dish cloth, duvets, large and small towels, pillows with pillowcases, bed sheets and mattress protectors
• • Basic kitchen supplies include: tea, coffee, sugar, salt, pepper, pots, pans, kettle, coffee plunger, chopping board, basic kitchen utensils, crockery and cutlery for up to 4 people, cleaning products, bucket, brush and shovel, rubbish bags, dishwashing liquid
• • Bathroom stocks of toilet cassette waste additive sachets and motorhome toilet paper
• • Barbeque with stand (use the 4kg gas bottle for the BBQ), outdoor chairs, foldable access step, doormats, hoses for grey and fresh water, long electric lead for powered sites.
• • A full tank of diesel.
• • Two full gas bottles (9kg and 4kg).
• Here are the guidelines we want you to follow:
• • All hirers must be over the age of 25 and hold a full, clean driving license to be shown at time of pickup
• • Close all habitation windows and vents fully before driving.
• • DAMAGE If damage happens, you must report it immediately who, what, where and when will be required. 03 668 1211
• • Wind in the awning at night, when you are away from the motorhome, when it is windy or if it starts to rain
• • No driving on unsealed/gravel roads / beaches or through water
• • No smoking or vaping inside the vehicle (Failure will result in NZ$100.00 excess cleaning fees)
• • No cooking food with a lasting strong odor (Failure will result in NZ$100.00 excess deodorizing fee)
• • No pets
• • Empty the toilet cassette and also the grey water tank before returning (otherwise a NZ$100.00 fee per item will apply to dispose of the waste)
• • Clean the BBQ (if you used it)
• • Refill with diesel prior to drop off
• • Refill gas bottles(s) prior to drop off
• • RUCs Road User Charges are additional and calculated via the vehicle's odometer reading at time of return. All Road User Charges are charged at a rate of 0.09c per km
• • Emergency If any engine lights come on the dashboard, please pull over immediately. If an accident occurs, or any breakdown, get off the road if you can, stay safe, call Camplify on 03 668 1211
• Sorry, but we are unable to facilitate one way hires.
• Anything not mentioned, please just ask. We are friendly and helpful and want you to have an enjoyable and memorable journey

  We had a great time hiring Coddiwomple! Coddiwomple is a lovely campervan, only 2 years old and they have filled it with so many lovely extra things, more than you'll ever need (like an umbrella, so handy with all the rain lol, a fold-up backpack which was great at the Ed Sheeran concert, foldup carry bags for groceries, games, books to read and some lovely treats too). Coddiwomple was a breeze to drive, had room for our 4 bikes on the back, and lots of storage. The weather was terrible nearly the whole time, but we had a great time travelling around in this van.   Coddiwomple was everything we could have dreamed of in a van & more! The owners, Robert & Clare, were the loveliest people & their communication from the moment we booked until after we had handed back their pride and joy was always clear, helpful & friendly. They have set their van up very well with every convenience that you could wish for. The handover process was very concise & if you forget anything, there is a very helpful manual on board that they have put together. Robert was nice enough to pick us up & drop us off in Wellington, something for which we were very thankful. The van was easy to drive and extremely comfortable. Cruise control & armrests were welcome features on the highway. The solar panels do well to keep the batteries topped up when you aren't on the road. We never had any issues with running low on battery power. The fridge & freezer are a really good size and separate shower & toilet mean that your bathroom space isn't always wet when you need to use the loo. There is an option to have the rear sleeping area set up as 2 single beds or a King size bed. We chose the King (which Robert set up for us) & it is simply enormous! Much bigger than what you get in the majority of other campervans. We were very sad to hand the keys back to Coddiwomple and we are already looking forward to when we can plan a reunion!

  Kia Ora, my partner and I had the most fabulous six nights in the van Coddiwomple, driving a total of 1750KM. Robert and Clare were so lovely, accommodating and easy to deal with. Robert picked us up in Wellington CBD and even dropping us back at the airport at the end of our trip, for which we were very grateful. The van is very easy to drive and very well stocked with all of the luxuries you could want on a campervanning trip. We loved the layout of the beds (north/south - and set up as singles, but can be converted to a large bed if you like). The beds were very comfortable and there is tons of storage as well as some basic pantry items supplied. We also liked the seperate shower to toilet and the fact you could close off the bedroom from the front of the van by leaving the bathroom door open - great for late night toilet breaks. Robert and Clare were very thorough with their handover when we first picked the van up which gave us every confidence in using all of its features. We are already planning our next New Zealand trip and hiring Coddiwomple in the near future. Thank you Robert and Clare - see you soon.
