Find Your Happy Pace! Happy Pace Hiace started life as a commercial rental, but we've added some home-away-from-home comforts. Thicker seat squabs, a comfy memory foam mattress topper and thermal-backed curtains have transformed Happy Pace Hiace into a cosy escape space for two. The roll-out awning expands your living space, providing a shady spot to relax (or shelter from rain!), and there's a portable bbq to increase your cooking options. We provide a free airport transfer service, or we can provide safe off-street parking for your own vehicle if necessary. Ample storage areas contain all the equipment and utensils that we've found are handy to have on a campervan trip. A double e-bike carrier may be available upon request, or we can provide supplementary plates for your own carrier. Setting up the bed is a breeze and literally takes less than a minute. Simply drop down the bed base and roll out the combined memory foam topper, fitted sheet, and duvet; throw your pillows on and you're done! Boasting solar and a larger house battery than standard for these vans, Happy Pace Hiace is able to park up off-grid with generally no need to plug in over summer. A microwave, heater, toaster, and electric jug are provided for the colder months when shore power is required. Happy Pace Hiace has a 2.8 litre diesel engine, automatic transmission, cruise control and a reversing camera to ensure driving and manoeuvring is as easy as possible. We've found that we don't have to travel very far in this van to find our "happy pace" - the stress of daily life seems to disappear, and life slows down. Book our van to find Your Happy Pace too!

Please note that Happy Pace Hiace currently does not comply with self-containment regulations for freedom camping because the toilet provided is a "Porta-Potti" type rather than the fixed toilet required by the new rules. However, there are still plenty of campsites where facilities are provided - download "Rankers" or "Campermate" apps to find the best spots.

Hiring rules

  • Daily rate is for up to two adults. Extra adults $20.00/day; children 05yrs free, 612yrs $10.00/day.
  • Road User Charges apply to this vehicle at a rate of 9c/km for ALL kilometres travelled. In addition to the RUC, an excess mileage charge applies at a rate of 30c/km over and above daily 200km allowance.
  • No smoking or vaping inside vehicle.
  • No offroad driving permitted.
  • Portapotti toilet and grey water to be emptied prior to dropoff. Failure to do so will result in an excess cleaning fee of $150.00.
  • Please return the van in clean and tidy condition, or an excess cleaning fee may be charged.
  • Diesel fuel and cooking gas to returned full. Please retain and provide receipt from service station for LPG refill.
  • Pets will be considered upon application.
  • We can provide offstreet parking for your own car while you're away.
  • Hirer must be 21 years of age or older.

Cancellations

Flexible

  • Cancel earlier than 10 days before the start of the booking and receive a full credit. Refunds available upon request (less any admin fees) and may take up to 30 days to process.
  • Cancel between 4 and 10 days before the start of the booking and receive 90% credit. Booking fees will not be credited.
  • Cancellations less than 4 days before the start of booking will not be eligible for any credit or refund.

    Awesome van. Very easy to drive and park. Has all the amenities to be a home away from home. Very clean and tidy. Pauline was a great host too, great communication, perfect van presentation and induction on using van features. Highly recommended

    I rented on very short notice and Pauline was So accommodating. The campervan is decked out with a super comfortable bed and really great useful touches like curtains that have magnets in the bottom so they stay closed at night, portable night lights and a wide array of kitchen appliances and gadgets. I rented 4 different vans sitting my journey and Paulines van was Definitely the Best! Thank You!!

We love getting away in our van as often as we can - mostly short trips around the "Top of the South". We enjoy finding the out-of-the-way spots and exploring NZ's amazing scenery.
