If it’s adventure you’re after or just need a little “Timeout”, “The Feisty Flounder” is for you. Whether it’s a quick trip over to the coast, to the far reaches of Slope Point in The Catlins, Carts on Cardrona, Farewell Spit, Alps 2 Ocean or to the furthest parts of Cape Reinga in the North, we would love to be apart of it. We have maps and pamphlets if you would like us to help plan your next adventure, that’s only if you want. I have seat belts for 5 people, and can sleep 4 with my 2 double beds. I have central locking, and come with a generous amount of interior lighting, storage containers for the fridge, camping table & chairs (for those nice summer nights) and a 240V mains cable for a campground hook up. I’m fully equipped with linen, towels, cutlery, dishes, pots/pans, kettle, tea towels, dishwashing equipment, tea & plunger coffee, pepper & salt and cooking oil. I have a large 80litre fridge which keeps the drinks cold for those hot days and can still be accessed with both beds made up, along with the 2 burner gas hobs and kitchen area (breakfast in bed for the lucky ones). Life’s too short, so we have to just get out there and do it. So what are you waiting for? Bring it on and make it happen, I’d love to be apart of your next adventure.

Hiring rules

  • 1. Pets allowed (will have to provide own sheets and blankets)
  • 2. 300km per day included, $1.00/km after that
  • 3. Treat it as if it was your own
  • 4. Tolls and parking are your responsibility
  • 5. Return the camper van with a full tank of fuel (91), toilet emptied and cleaned (if used) and in a clean & tidy condition
  • 6. No OffRoad travel allowed

Cancellations

Flexible

  • Cancel earlier than 10 days before the start of the booking and receive a full credit. Refunds available upon request (less any admin fees) and may take up to 30 days to process.
  • Cancel between 4 and 10 days before the start of the booking and receive 90% credit. Booking fees will not be credited.
  • Cancellations less than 4 days before the start of booking will not be eligible for any credit or refund.

    Although a little on the old side , The Flounder behaved perfectly on our well over 1400 Km trip. Well equipped for this class of van we only added a few extras to make our trip more comfortable There were three in our party(2 adults and a 9 year old) so we left the beds in place for almost all of our trip and used the 3 front seat set up. This worked really well for us as we stayed on pre booked mainly Top 10 parks and used their facilities for our dinners we cooked for ourselves. Dont expect loads of room or luxury. But if you want a reliable functional camper then The Feisty Flounder will do you proud.

    We had an amazing 13-day trip around the South Island in Alis van! The unlimited mileage and competitive price were what first caught our eye, but the experience exceeded our expectations. We were really pleased with the setup; unlike many other listings, everything was provided at no extra costchairs, bedsheets, towels, and a full kitchen kit. The van is the perfect size for two people, and honestly, we wish we could have spent more time in it. Ali was a fantastic host, very accommodating, helpful, and just a great guy overall. If you're planning a long road trip and don't want to worry about hidden fees or distance limits, this is the van to book. Highly recommend!
