Meet Reginald – or simply “Reggie” Reggie is your comfortable, capable home away from home, built for exploring Aotearoa, New Zealand at your own pace, whether you’re chasing remote views, staying off-grid, or working whilst travelling. He’s fully self-contained and solar powered, with a 500W inverter, the perfect amount for charging devices and running a laptop. Inside, Reggie’s two-sided couch fold and unfold quickly into a queen size bed, for efficient day to night transitions. Rugged fly screens on all sliding side windows let fresh air flow through while keeping the bugs out. There is a diesel heater for colder nights, this is really just required from march onwards. Reggie has an abundance of storage! * ⁠200L of easily separable internal storage. * 550L roof box for dirty, damp, or bulky outdoor gear - or perhaps souvenirs you pick up along the way :) * Roof racks for outdoor equipment. Additional information

A personal locator beacon (PLB) can be provided free of charge to support your safety, especially if you’re heading into remote areas or planning multi‑day hikes. It enables free emergency rescue if something unexpected happens. Because PLBs must be registered in advance with local rescue authorities, this option requires prior arrangement. 👉 Please request the beacon at least two weeks before your trip so I can organise it for you. I want you to have the best possible, and safest, experience during your adventure. If you’re planning longer hikes where mobile reception may be limited, New Zealand strongly recommends carrying a PLB. They are lightweight and roughly the size of a computer mouse, so easy to take along. Let me know if that is something I can help you with to avoid further cost hiring them.

Hiring rules

Smoke and vapefree van.
Drive on formed roads only, gravel being part of NZ road network is ok.
For less developed access roads to camp grounds, discuss with owner before commencing the trip or seek quick approval via phone whilst travelling.
Road user charges: 9 cents per km. (its a tax all Diesels need to pay, and will go straight to the NZ Transport Agency)
Beyond average of 200 km/day additional charges of 75 cents/km apply.
As guidance: The usual observed average of south island travel is around 160 km/day and when travelling to the north island 180 to 190 km/day, due to longer distances between exciting spots.
Pull over and call roadside assistance if warning lights appear.
Return with a full tank as you received.
Refill the gas bottle at a petrol station. (CALTEXT)

Pricing

Hire Fee: From $150.00 per day
Service fee: $115.00

Cancellations

Strict

Cancel earlier than 45 days before the start of the booking and receive a full credit. Refunds available upon request (less any admin fees) and may take up to 30 days to process.
Cancel between 45 and 20 days before the start of booking and receive a 90% credit. Booking fees will not be credited.
Cancellations less than 20 days before the start of booking will not be eligible for any credit or refund.
