Hiring rules

• We are closed for handovers on Sundays and the following dates: 25th Dec to 1st Jan, and Easter Friday to Monday, plus all public holidays.
• We have variable minimum hire periods, which are longer over the peak season (usually 14 days).
• Pick up and return times must be between 9:30am and 4:00pm. Late returns (after 4pm) may incur an addition days' hire charge.
• No smoking or vaping in the vehicle or under the awning (if fitted). Failure to comply would result in excess cleaning fees.
• No cooking of strong smelling foods such as curries inside the vehicle. Failure to comply will result in a $500.00 cleaning fee.
• No pets permitted.
• Vehicle Must be returned with full tank of diesel and AdBlue, gas refilled and grey/black water tanks emptied. Failure to do so will result in a Fee of $150.00, plus the cost of diesel, AdBlue and gas being charged.
• Please allow 45 to 90 minutes to complete pick up and 10 to 30 minutes for drop off procedures
• The vehicle must be returned clean. Dishes washed and put away, bench surfaces wiped down, sand and dirt swept outside. Failure to so will result in a Fee of $150.00.
• If adding a BBQ, this must be returned clean. Failure to so will result in a Fee of $100.00.
• If the awning is damaged, there is an additional $1,000.00 to be paid, on top of the excess due to high risk of damage.
• RUCs Road User Charges are additional and calculated via the vehicle's odometer reading at time of return. All Road User Charges (RUC) are charged at a rate of $0.09 per km.
• Road restrictions apply as follows: (a) Vehicles can only be driven on sealed/bitumen roads. (b) Vehicles are not permitted on Skippers Road (Queenstown), Ball Hutt Road (Mt. Cook), Ninety Mile Beach (Northland) and North of Colville Township (Coromandel Peninsula). Our vehicles are also not permitted on any ski field access roads.
• One way hires are permitted but must be arranged prior and there will be a relocation fee or $1,500.00 (within South Island) or $2,000.00 (within North Island) and must be near an Airport.

• Hirer must be 25 years of age or older.

  Shane was a very good host very respectable and very flexible with getting us into another caravan as the one we originally booked unfortunately got damaged however, Shane came in with a good alternative. Legend!

  We had a great holiday for a whole month in poppie, as novice campervan users, upfront communication and support was important and Shane took a lot of care to explain all details meticulously! He was also extremely accomodating! The handover went very smoothly and the van looked in top condition which really shows the personal effort that Shane and his wife put in!   This was our second time booking through Springlight and once again it was a perfect experience. The camper was super clean, fully equipped with everything you need, and the stocked fridge with Kiwi classics was such a great touch. Shanes communication was fast, reliable, and very helpful throughout. Couldnt be happier 100% recommended.

  Highly recommend SpringLight. Shane kindly picked us up at airport, the handover of Poppie was comprehensive. It was lovely to have some tasty kiwi snacks, and starter items. The van was spotless, with quality bedding, and was very well equipped. We unfortunately had to call for a roadside assistance truck on our way back to return Poppie, and were thus delayed returning to Christchurch, but Shane was great, meeting us at the truck drop off point, and driving us back to the airport, and was also very happy to arrange the return of our hire bikes with the rental company. All round a great experience, with great communication and exceptional caring service from Shane, would definitely hire again from SpringLight
