Here are a few important things to know about hiring Gladys: • Manual transmission – you’ll need to be confident driving manual • Diesel Road User Charges: 9.6c per km, calculated and charged after your trip • No external power hookup – 200W solar + house battery only • Inverter included for a normal 240V plug (charge a laptop/phone) You’ll receive a quick handover before departure so you know how everything works, and I’m here if you have any questions along the way.
Hiring rules
- To keep Gladys in great shape for all adventurers, please follow these simple rules:
- 🚐 Manual Only – You MUST be able to drive a manual
- 💲Road User Charges: Diesel RUC of $96.00/kmcalculated on return
- 🚭 No Smoking inside the van
- 🧼 Return Clean with a basic clean/empty rubbish
- ⛽ Return with a Full Tank of diesel
- 💦 Empty the Grey Water Tank before returning
- 🚽 Toilet Must Be Emptied & Thoroughly Cleaned If Used
- ⚠️ Any Damage Report Immediately
- 🌧️ Awning Packed Away Dry and Before Bad Weather
- Hirer must be 21 years of age or older.

Cancellations
Strict
- Cancel earlier than 45 days before the start of the booking and receive a full credit. Refunds available upon request (less any admin fees) and may take up to 30 days to process.
- Cancel between 45 and 20 days before the start of booking and receive a 90% credit. Booking fees will not be credited.
- Cancellations less than 20 days before the start of booking will not be eligible for any credit or refund.

Maurizio 4.8Jennie was very easy and very good to deal with. At pick up we were informed of an issue with the central locking which did get quiet frustrating at times(sometimes it was very difficult or impossible to open the side door, sometimes it was very difficult or impossible to open the passenger or driver door). very difficult or impossible to open the side door. Mild engine fumes entering the cabin. The van its showing its age but worked well and is well equipped for what we needed.
Conor 5.0Gladys was perfect for our four week trip around New Zealand. It drives great, is extremely comfortable and has everything you might need. Jennie was also really helpful throughout our trip. Would highly recommend!
