Henry is a 2005 Toyota Hiace that will not dissapoint! He drives smooth, with nice tight steering and a tidy, custom interior. He has a bluetooth stereo with multiple USB charging points. Nice cold air-con and a warm heater, smooth sliding doors, central locking with a high quality alarm and drivers airbag. You'll have 25 litres of fresh water and 25 litres of grey water, easily filled and emptied. 2 fold out camping chairs, dimmable interior lighting with remote (for when in bed), a rear flexible reading light with USB, another USB point under the armrest section in back, an electric tap and a power inverter for charging your laptop etc. For cooking we provide a single burner gas cooker and 2 disposable gas bottles, these are easily and cheaply purchased at most stores or outdoor retailers if more are required. All cutlery is included, everything you should need for most of your cooking needs: - Basic cutlery (Sharp knife, bread board, spatula, spoons, wooden spoon etc...) - 1 Pot, 1 pan, 2 mugs, 2 wine cups - Coffee, Tea, Coffee plunger, Salt and pepper, cooking oil. There is plenty of storage beneath the bed, as well as above your heads. Travel magazines, travel cards and a few books to indulge in are kicking around. During the day the bed is converted to a modular seating arrangement with a good sized table. We provide a fitted sheet and a top sheet, 2 pillows, a duvet and an extra blanket (In winter, the van can get a bit cold even though its insulated). Henry is very fuel efficient being a newer model Hiace. He has one of Toyotas current model 2 litre petrol engines that is still used in brand new cars today. It is far more efficient than that of the older models. (Meaning you can save your money on fuel!)

We ask that the toilet is strictly not to be used. There are many locations on your journey that will have public toilets available, including campsites. We recommend you do not use the toilet as it will need to be cleaned and emptied upon return. Drop off or pick up of van to Wellington Airport can be arranged at the listed fee.

Hiring rules

  • Strictly no smoking in van, vaping is ok.
  • Maximum driving distance of 200km per day applies. 80c per km will be charged after this amount.
  • Hirer must be 25 years of age or older.

Cancellations

Flexible

  • Cancel earlier than 10 days before the start of the booking and receive a full credit. Refunds available upon request (less any admin fees) and may take up to 30 days to process.
  • Cancel between 4 and 10 days before the start of the booking and receive 90% credit. Booking fees will not be credited.
  • Cancellations less than 4 days before the start of booking will not be eligible for any credit or refund.

    Jack did a good handover, the van "Henry" meet the description and expections. Of course it is an older model with a self-conversion build up interior. Some things are very good details and others could be a bit nicer(some open sheet metal inside or strong used equipment). We enyoed it and could start fast and easy with Henry on a nice trip!

    Henry was an amazing van for exploring the South Island. Very comfortable and easy to drive. Everything went smoothly with Jack, highly recommend!

    Jack and Rosie were super helpful in the lead up to the handover, during the rental and post. Henry was a reliable, methodically laid out and well equipped stead. Was a super comfortable and practical camper for the few weeks we travelled the South Island roads. If I were in the area again, Id keep a look out for Henry.
