Hiring rules
- No smoking or vaìping in Big Bertha or the roof top tents.
- Pets are allowed but please keep them out of the rooftop tent they are welcome to sleep inside the truck or tied up outside.
- RUCs Road User Charges (RUCs) will be charged at the rate of $0.09 per km. The total RUCs will be calculated on the distance travelled during the hire period and will be charged to the hirer on completion of the hire.
- Return Bertha clean and tidy please.
- Damage If damage happens, you must report it immediately who, what, where and when will be required
- Return full of DIESEL All hires include a full tank upon departure. If not returned full there will be a refuelling fee.
- Have fun!

Cancellations
Flexible
- Cancel earlier than 10 days before the start of the booking and receive a full credit. Refunds available upon request (less any admin fees) and may take up to 30 days to process.
- Cancel between 4 and 10 days before the start of the booking and receive 90% credit. Booking fees will not be credited.
- Cancellations less than 4 days before the start of booking will not be eligible for any credit or refund.

Spencer 5.0We recently spent 17 days exploring the South Island, and hiring this 4WD was easily the best decision we made for the trip. If youre looking for total freedom and reliability, this is the setup to get. Don't be put off that it isn't self contained as it really isn't a requirement and we had no problems camping wherever we wanted in the middle of peak season. Big Birtha exceeded all our expectations, this 4WD handled everything from steep alpine passes to gravel backroads. It felt sturdy, safe, and powerful enough to get us everywhere we wanted to go without a second thought. Gareth made sure that the car came with pretty much everything to get our trip started, from providing table ,chairs, all bedding, towels and even a coffee machine (with coffee). This rig turned a great holiday into an unforgettable adventure. It provided the perfect balance of capability and comforts. We couldnt have asked for a better companion for our South Island road trip. Highly recommended!
