Overall our experience with this van was average/disappointing. We hired for a 2 week journey through the South Island in February 2026. We have summarised the good and bad of our experience below; The Good: - The van is quite easy to drive, especially compared to a larger motorhome. This makes it great for long drives or for people not used to driving a larger vehicle. - We hired in 2026 and the van still felt quite new, even though it is a couple years old now. The van presents well and everything works ok. - The van includes the basics/bare minimum essentials for camping, but is missing a lot of small items that would make it a much better experience. - The owners communication was great once we were messaging via WhatsApp, he was always prompt to reply. - It is quite fuel efficient as well. The Bad: - You are sent a list of videos which include tutorials on how everything works before collecting the van. I appreciate this saves time at handover, however for someone that is busy and has not watched every second of each video, you are in the dark about how some things work which can lead to a negative experience. - We found the van severely under-equipped for camping, especially as we had travelled internationally so we didn't have the luxury of being able to bring some of our own equipment. Some examples listed below; - The fresh water hose is only a few metres long, which means it won't reach from one side of the van to the other, this is quite inconvenient if you are setup on one site for a few days and don't want to move the van. Most camp sites don't have the hose attachments to screw on to the hose outlet, and this wasn't included in the van, this meant we had to manage our water use to ensure we were in a location where we could fill up, and ask some of our campsite neighbours if we could borrow their hose attachment. - The outside 'table' is a very small bench that attaches to the van door. It is very flimsy, falls off easily and if you need to move the sliding door the table moves with it. - The only kitchen knife was a small (~2 inch) knife and the van only included one other dinner knife. - There was no toaster. - There are 3 plates in the kitchen drawer, if they are not stacked in a specific order they catch on the cabinet and the drawer doesn't close. - There was no chopping board or tea towels in the van, we spoke to the owner about this and he said we could buy some from the supermarket and he would reimburse us the cost, which we did, but we never got reimbursed the cost although we left the items in the van for the next renters. - The bedding included with the van is quite terrible. The sheet for the rear bed is slightly too small for the cushion area, there are two memory foam pillows included (we did not find these comfortable at all) and the duvet is two separate single duvets, we found this very unusual. - For the rear bed, as the cushions are so firm, we ended up using the mattress topper which is from the front single bed, and covered half of the rear bed with it. The bed is also long-ways in the van, and it is very short, my fiancés feet and mine both hung off the end of the bed. Unfortunately this meant we did not sleep very well for during our rental. Some other general observations; - There is no awning. - There is no air conditioning. - The water pressure in the sink was very low and it sounded like the water pump was surging every time we used it. - The shower has very low pressure and is very tight, we did not use it for showering. - The outside BBQ is practically useless/not functional. It does not get anywhere near hot enough to successfully cook anything on it especially if it is windy. A weber/proper BBQ would make a massive difference. There were also no metal BBQ utensils/scraper. - A bucket to carry laundry would be a welcome addition.

Van was clean and tidy. Communication was okay. Didnt reply through the Camplify app but once had his mobile number was a little better. Didnt get much of a run through the van at handover but fairly easy to work out.

It was my first time booking a caravan with Camplify, and I was fortunate enough to find the deal and provider through Dan. The whole experience was very pleasant and easygoing with Danfrom checking the van specs and collection details to ensuring the vehicle was functioning properly. The entire van collection and return process was smoothly arranged without any long waits or delays. Dan was kind enough to support me and promptly answer a few small questions about the van during my trip. Most importantly, the driving experience of the van was in top-notch and excellent condition - thanks Dan to offer me such a brand-new vehicle to me and I really enjoyed the driving experience with the vehicle. I will definitely recommend Dan to my friends in Singapore who are planning a road trip in NZ, and I will certainly engage Dan again in the future should I happen to do another road trip in NZ! Thanks, Dan, and all the best to you in NZ.
