DINING/ pots, pans, toaster, kettle, chopping board, cheese grater, measuring utensils, salad bowl, crockery, plates, bowls, cups and cutlery. The motorhome will be supplied with a full tank of diesel and must be returned with a full tank at the end of your journey otherwise a refueling fee of NZD $80.00 will apply plus the cost of diesel. It may be possible to leave your own car on our driveway if required; please enquire first. Please empty the toilet cassette before returning. A NZD$100.00 fee will apply if it is unclean, to dispose of the waste. RUC’s Road User Charges are a government tax on diesel vehicles in NZ. An additional fee of 9 cents per km to be paid on return of the motorhome; this equates to $90.00NZD per 1000km driven. Travel restrictions It drives like a car, standard car licence is all that is required. Drivers must hold a full, clean license and identification needs to be shown upon booking and pick up. No off-road driving permitted on beaches, unsealed roads, ski field access roads in winter or prohibited NZTA listed roads. House rules Please treat our motorhome as you would your own. No smoking or vaping inside. No pets allowed sorry. Leave the motorhome clean and tidy. Refill with diesel prior to drop off. No cooking of food with strong odours. Deodorising fee of $100.00 will apply. Soft luggage only to be stored inside, no bikes, scooters, skateboards etc. There is a bike rack plus large exterior hatch for these. Please wash off any sand before entering the vehicle. It will be supplied with a full tank of fresh water and an empty tank for grey water. Please empty the grey water tank before returning or a $100.00 fee will apply. Anything not mentioned, please just ask. • No driving on gravel roads or beaches allowed.
• Toilet cassette and grey wastewater tank MUST be emptied before return.
• Diesel fuel tank to be returned full.
• RUC's charged at 9c per km, and calculated posthire based on odometer reading.

• Hirer must be 29 years of age or older.

  Marvin was 12 years old and we did have a few issues, and we wonder whether he needs to be put out to pasture, or have an overhaul. The grey water hose was not correctly connected and we couldnt get it to join up. The magazine rack fell off the wall in the night (and hit my head while I was asleep!). The toilet flush stopped working a few days into our holiday and we had to use the shower to flush the toilet, we couldnt get the hot water to ignite so had to boil water. Different warning lights came up on the dashboard which we were unable to do anything about. The most constant one was the anti skid brake light which was on from day two but which we countered by driving quite slowly and carefully, and luckily we had no rain. But the van was well stocked with everything we needed. It didnt really suit an older couple as the main bed was very high and difficult to get into and out of.

  Thanks for the 4.8 star rating Pip. I do however find your comment that Marvin "needs to be put out to pasture, or have an overhaul", as very unreasonable. All but one of your issues is mechanical, and the remainder are mostly 'user error'. The grey water hose has never come off before so I suspect you must have pulled on it very, very hard. Due to your and Peters lack of mobility this hose would have been awkward for you to use as it is located low down. The plastic magazine rack is stuck on via 3M double sided tape, which I will secure now with a small screw instead; I'm sorry this fell down on your head but hardly something that requires an 'overhaul'. The toilet flush pump works fine - you simply did not refill it with water as I showed you. The gas hot water works fine I can confirm - user error again. During the handover you asked me to keep it brief as you were short on time, so perhaps you can accept some responsibility for not knowing how to operate Marvin properly. I told you to message me if you had any problems but you did not do so. Please don't complain after the fact when you could have simply asked me at the time. You should also have contacted Camplify and myself about the warning lights coming on, and perhaps we could have helped with this. I don't think you were driving that slowly either as you drove 1915kms in 10 days. Photos of the bed were clearly displayed on Camplify, and I am not to know you had a mobility issue with climbing on to it. You also forgot to mention the fly screen door handle that you broke.

  Terrific van all around. We loved our five weeks with Marvin. Super functional, very well equipped and very clean, pretty much self-sufficient energy-wise with three PV solar panels on the roof, drives very nicely, has everything it needs and Gareth is friendly and super responsive and helpful for minor things that came up here and there. We truly hope to rent Marvin again one day.

  The van had everything we needed. It was no trouble to drive and easily cruised at 90 km/h on the open road.
