Levi 2.5This motorhome should not be rented out again until the following are taken care of: The heater did not work and urine came out from under the toilet on the first day (so it was not ours). The owner told us the heat didn't work upon pick up and told us to use the extra comforters that he provided and to use the propane stove for heat (which is NOT safe). He also provided a plug in little kid heater (it's in the shape of an animal). We rented this particular vehicle because we wanted to be self contained and FREEDOM CAMP, and not plug in but that heater needed power. The urine continued to run out on the floor so we didn't use the toilet or shower, causing extra costs for us as we rented hotels and stayed in paid campgrounds where we could get a hot shower and plug in (campgrounds in NZ are NOT cheap -$62 to $119 per night). We reached out to the owner and he explained that there was leftover waste from a previous user in the overflow cups and told us to clean them out with a sponge or take it in for maintainence (we were not in cities so this was not possible). It stunk the whole time. There was a beeping noise as we drove away from pickup and I immediately reached out to the owner. Related to the beeping, we stopped in Oamaru and ended up getting stuck because the thing that was beeping is the "Steering Lock Emulator" and it locked us out. We reached out to the owner, he didn't know what it was so we tried Chat GPT which suggested a fix of unhooking the battery to re-set the emulator. The problem was that the battery is under a panel on the floor and there are no tools in the motorhome so we had nothing to open the panel with, hence there is no way to get to the battery (also not good if you get a dead battery, which is also an issue with the vehicle, it almost didn't start on multiple occassions). The owner suggested we flag someone down for tools. We ended up finding someone, unhooking the battery for 15 minutes- it worked and reset the emulator, which stopped the beeping and allowed us to turn the key. Other issues were that the bedding smelled very bad so we had to purchase a bed mattress cover and new pillows ($90)- we left them in the motorhome for future users. One mud flap is loose and bangs while driving until you tuck it in but will pop out and bang again. The lights above the back bed do not work. The cushions on the dinette are not the original so they slide off and are constantly on the floor. Even when sitting on them, they slide all over (even when seat belted in). The sound on the TV didn't work (not a problem for us but our son did try to watch a movie once so we know this). There is a kettle but no cord. We had to buy a plunger to make coffee and left it in the motorhome also (we weren't planning on having power because we were Freedom Camping so the kettle wouldn't have been helpful anyway but ended up renting spots in campgrounds because of all of these issues). We incurred many extra costs that we hadn't planned on. There was a crack in the rear view mirror arm that they are saying we did. Stupidly we did not take photos before taking off (I always do, but there was so much going on with the run-through of the motorhome and being taken aback that they heat didn't work, that I was distracted). I would not suggest anyone rent this motorhome until all of the issues have been fixed.
Hannah 5.0Awesome! A great trip and the camper was excellent especially in the rain! Wen was super easy to deal with too.
Urim 5.0Thanks to Wen's camper, our team of 5 had a blast touring the south island! Wen is incredibly friendly and helpful, and the camper is laid out in such a way that a first-timer (me) could easily use its facilities and tools with a quick overview from the owner. I highly recommend!
Jan 5.0The motorhome is perfect and Wen explains everything in all details before you head out. That was a super good briefing and helped a lot. Holiday was great even with some bad weather days. The motorhome was good for the 6 of us (youngest 17), also on the twe rainy days.
Holly 5.0Great motorhome! Such a fun way to travel, knowing we could stop and rest in comfort along the way. Was perfect for our family (2 adults and 2 children). Wen was so helpful and kind, would highly recommend. Great experience!
