Olivia was the perfect van for exploring the South Island. My girlfriend and I were a bit skeptical about her size when bookingshes not a Sprinter-style vanbut I wanted something stealthy, not a giant green rig screaming tourist. Olivia delivered. Shes a newer van with about 50k kilometers, surprisingly comfortable bedding (we honestly slept better in her than at the Hermitage), and her smaller size was a blessing on those extremely windy days when everyone else was getting pushed around on the single-lane roads. The fuel efficiency was another big win. For reference, Im almost 63, and the bedding was still comfortable. The pillows were great, and having all the essentials in a self-contained vehicletoilet, sink, stovegave us peace of mind. The only adjustment was the drivers seat: it cant slide back very far because of the sink, so it felt a bit cramped for me at first. But after nearly 2,000 kilometers, I wouldnt change a thing. Lastly, Gilson is an incredibly kind, helpful, and easygoing host. Highly recommend booking Olivia.

Highly recommend plus a great hire for tall people. I'm 1.93m tall and most other vans have very short beds - not this one. I easily fit in this bed and was very comfortable. The van had great power and also diesel is MUCH cheaper in NZ compared to petrol, so it was cheaper to refuel. The fridge and amenities included worked well too.

Thanks to this amazing van, we had the best trip ever! The van is still quite new and very well-maintained, and we had no issues at all during the entire week. It had everything we needed for van life absolutely perfect. The owner, Gilson, was incredibly kind and provided excellent service. I highly recommend this van. Thank you so much for the unforgettable memories!

Amazing trip in the van! Everything you require is in the van and its very neat and tidy. Amazing communication with Glison making pick up and drop off easy. The length is shorter than that described on the page making it easier to park in standard parks.

Gilson is a super responsive and kind van owner. The van pick up and drop off was remarkably flexible-he picked us up at the airport to give us the van, and then met us at our airbnb in Arrowtown to pick up the van 9 days later. The van was super clean when we picked it up. Gilson stocked it with some thoughtful treats. We drove all over the South Island for 9 days, and the van was very easy to drive. We had no trouble finding diesel on the trip to gas up. The prices varied widely so we tried to gas up outside of Queenstown (where it was more expensive). The bed is super comfortable. We slept so well in the van! The van is pretty sound proof and the windows are tinted, so you have a lot of privacy. Heads up that the back windows (where the bed is) do not open. We didn't find this to be a problem because the temperatures dropped a lot at night even in the summer, so we slept comfortably. If you plan to spend more than a few days in the van and want to do a lot of cooking, we recommend bringing a sauce pot, a can opener, a spatula, a small camping light to hang up at night, and a lid for the frying pan (this will help your food cook way faster). We picked up a big spoon to stir dishes/ladle food at a thrift store and added it to the van's dish set. We were able to borrow a can opener from other caravaners at various campsites. The sink was a little hard to use, so we mostly heated some water in the tea kettle, poured this into the big Tupperware in the van, and used the campsite water spigots to wash dishes. The sun awning is best used when there is no wind. We do recommend that you make sure the van has the green certified self-contained sticker when you pick it up. We thought it did, but it didn't so we found ourselves in a pickle and had to leave one campsite late at night to avoid a fine. But Gilson was responsive when we communicated this to him and refunded us for the night. This was the only issue we had. The van isn't really set up for hangout inside- you can sit in the front seats, or put down the bed and lay in the bed. So you may want to pay attention to the weather. We found that when it was raining hard we had to find a place to cook inside, because the rain just blew in beneath the awning. We highly recommend that you check out White Horse Campground! It was gorgeous. We hope you have as wonderful a trip as we did.
