The Flightless Kea is a compact, beautifully designed camper that’s easy to drive and park — fitting comfortably in a standard car space, so you won’t be hunting for oversized parking.
Professionally designed and built to maximise space and functionality, it comfortably travels with up to 4 people (2 in the front, 2 in the rear) and sleeps up to 4 across two beds — one at the rear and another cleverly positioned above the driver’s cab.
One of its standout features is the extra-high roof, offering an impressive 2.1m of interior headroom. This means you can stand, move around, and truly enjoy the space — a big plus on longer trips or rainy days.
At the rear, a generous pull-down table creates a cosy dining and hang-out area where four people can sit together to enjoy meals, play board games, or relax indoors.
The main bed conveniently folds away, maximising living space and saving you from remaking the bed every day.
The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need, including linen, a quality stove, microwave, fridge/freezer, plus all cookware, utensils, plates, cups, and glasses — just bring your food.
Outside, enjoy the fresh air with a retractable awning, outdoor table, and chairs, perfect for alfresco dining or relaxing after a day of exploring.
The van is off-grid capable, with an onboard battery providing approximately 24–48 hours of power for the fridge, lighting, and water pump. Alternatively, the camper can be plugged into an external power source when available.

Hiring rules
- No smoking or pets allowed.
- Cooking must be done with a window open.
- The grey water tank is to be emptied prior to return.
- Retractable canopy not to be used in strong winds.
- The van is to be returned clean, to the same standard at the start of the booking.
- The van is to be returned with a full tank of diesel.
- If the above rules are not followed, a charge may apply.
- If the toilet is used, this must be emptied and cleaned (to the same standard it was found) prior to return. If this rule is not followed, a $250.00 cleaning fee will be applied in addition to any other cleaning fees.
- Road User Charges are additional to the daily set rate and will be charged at 0.09c per km travelled.
- We recommend no heavy braking down steep and windy mountain passes use a low gear and take regular stops in viewing bays.
- Please provide the following information as part of your booking request: name, age & phone number of drivers; planned destination; pick up / drop off requirements; anticipated kms for your trip.
- Hirer must be 25 years of age or older.

Cancellations
Flexible
- Cancel earlier than 10 days before the start of the booking and receive a full credit. Refunds available upon request (less any admin fees) and may take up to 30 days to process.
- Cancel between 4 and 10 days before the start of the booking and receive 90% credit. Booking fees will not be credited.
- Cancellations less than 4 days before the start of booking will not be eligible for any credit or refund.

Madeline 5.0Victoria and Rob went out of their way to make our RV trip as effortless, easy and enjoyable as ever! It was one of my friends birthday and Victoria decorated the van / left a cake and wine for us to celebrate. We greatly appreciated the effort to go above and beyond for us. The van was perfect! No issues whatsoever. It was perfect for the 3 of us to travel around NZ for a week. Rob set us up for success in regards to handling the upkeep tasks for the van. If this RV is available, dont hesitate to book now, you wont regret it!!
Jill 5.0Myself and 2 friends had the best time on the south island in The Flightless Kea! It was stocked with a lot of useful things (camping chairs, wipes, towels, clothes pegs etc..) and we just needed to grab food. Victoria and Robbert were really great at messaging and hand overs. They were kind enough to let us pick up and drop off in Queenstown. All in all, a great van!
