Meet Kermit the Bus — "Kermie" your calm, cosy, handcrafted tiny home on wheels. Lovingly converted from a 2009 Nissan Civilian, Kermie is a 7 m self-contained motorhome with a warm, boho-inspired interior and plenty of space to unwind. Light, bright, and full of charm — blending natural textures, earthy tones, and that relaxed, slow-travel feel. Inside, you’ll find a beautifully finished timber benchtop and Murphy-style table, soft neutral décor, and woven touches that make the space feel like a peaceful studio apartment on wheels. The fixed double bed means no nightly pack-up, and the sofa area doubles as a dining nook, with a removable table for meals, board games, or morning coffee with a view. Kermie’s kitchen includes a gas cooktop, sink with running water, fridge, storage, and all the essentials to cook comfortably on the road. Fully self-contained — with a toilet, cold shower, and generous storage — so you can enjoy freedom camping or extended road trips with ease. With large windows, light-filled corners, and calm boho styling throughout, Kermie is perfect for solo travellers or couples who love slow travel, simple comforts, and a touch of personality. Note: There are two seatbelts only, so he’s best suited for two travellers. Whether you’re chasing beaches, lakes, or quiet mountain views, Kermit the Bus is your gentle companion for the journey — reliable, grounding, and full of character.

Hiring rules

  • To keep Kermie in great shape for all adventurers, please follow these simple rules:
  • 💲Road User Charges: Diesel RUC of $96.00/kmcalculated on return
  • 🚭 No Smoking inside the bus
  • 🧼 Return Clean with a basic clean/empty rubbish
  • ⛽ Return with a Full Tank of diesel
  • 💦 Empty the Grey Water Tank before returning
  • 🚽 Toilet Must Be Emptied & Thoroughly Cleaned
  • ⚠️ Any Damage Report Immediately
  • 🌧️ Awning Packed Away Dry and Before Bad Weather
  • Hirer must be 25 years of age or older.

Cancellations

Strict

  • Cancel earlier than 45 days before the start of the booking and receive a full credit. Refunds available upon request (less any admin fees) and may take up to 30 days to process.
  • Cancel between 45 and 20 days before the start of booking and receive a 90% credit. Booking fees will not be credited.
  • Cancellations less than 20 days before the start of booking will not be eligible for any credit or refund.

    A flat on wheels! Easy to drive. The bed is super comfy, we went all around new zeland with kermie, it took us a bit of time to understand all the tricks but at the end kermie felt like home. We had a wonderful trip with the motor home!

    Great size for what we needed, easy to drive, comfortable bed, Jennie gave us good instructions on the bus & sent us videos how to do the dump station which made things very easy,shower & toilet were good for off grid camping (cold water only) which was good coz it was so hot. Id definitely hire it again if I was up in Auckland. Solar power n water lasted us 4 nights. We had the fan going pretty much all the time.
