- Please allow 45-60 minutes for a thorough vehicle walkthrough when you arrive so you’re 100% comfortable with Obelix’s features. - Always check for a 2.5m height clearance, especially when parking under trees or entering covered carparks. - Obelix is powered by a solar system. It’s perfect for off-grid freedom, but please be mindful that heavy cloud cover can affect charging rates. - The van features Android Auto and multiple charging ports. Please bring your own USB cable for connection and charging.
Hiring rules
- Distance: A generous allowance of 200km per day is included. Overages are charged at $0.50/km.
- Fuel: Please return Obelix with a full tank of petrol.
- Smoking/Vaping: To keep the van fresh for everyone, we have a strict no smoking/vaping policy.
- Pets: To ensure the van remains allergenfree, we do not allow pets.
- Cleanliness: Please return the van in a clean state. Your service fee covers professional sanitization and consumables, but not a deep interior clean. Failure to return the vehicle clean will result in an excess cleaning fee of $100.00.
- Festivals: Please contact us first if you are planning to take Obelix to a music festival.
- No towing allowed.
- Hirer must be 21 years of age or older.

Cancellations
Strict
- Cancel earlier than 45 days before the start of the booking and receive a full credit. Refunds available upon request (less any admin fees) and may take up to 30 days to process.
- Cancel between 45 and 20 days before the start of booking and receive a 90% credit. Booking fees will not be credited.
- Cancellations less than 20 days before the start of booking will not be eligible for any credit or refund.

Simon 5.0We loved traveling with Obelix for 6 weeks around the North and South Island. The van is super comfortable, very well designed, easy to drive and super reliable (we made it down to the Milford Sounds and back without a single issue ). Obelix has everything we needed for living from a well equipped kitchen with a nicely working cook top to a comfortable bedding and sufficient space despite his small outside. He become our lovely drivable home when heading out to adventures. Communication with Matt & Jane were super easy and fast and they took good care that we had everything we needed. We highly recommend traveling with Obelix. Thanks a lot, for making our time with Obelix so easy, fun and truly enjoyable.
Anna 5.0Great road trip with Obelix! The van is comfortable to sleep in even if we are quite tall. It is easy to drive and park, inside it has an excellent layout of the spaces. Matt and Jane are very nice and we have a great communication with them. Highly recommended for travelling in NZ. I will for sure contact them again if i will come again in NZ
