Fully self-contained and powered by solar with an NZC Green Card, Obelix is your ticket to freedom camping in the most stunning remote spots. Unlike many rentals, we believe in a transparent, all-inclusive experience: - We pay all toll road fees and Road User Charges (RUCs) so you don't have to. - Your gas refills are included, no need to buy canisters at the end of your trip. - Automatic transmission and a reverse camera make maneuvering a breeze, even for those new to campervans. Inside features: - The dining area converts into a spacious queen-size bed with custom-fit window covers for a dark, cozy night’s sleep. - Fully equipped with premium cookware (pots, pans, plates, cups, glasses). - We provide the essentials—oil, coffee, tea, sugar, salt, and pepper. Winter Ready: - For cooler months, we provide a warm duvet and can include a small electric heater and power lead upon request. Outdoor Living: - Full setup included: Camping table, comfortable chairs, and a solar shower for that refreshing off-grid rinse.

- Please allow 45-60 minutes for a thorough vehicle walkthrough when you arrive so you’re 100% comfortable with Obelix’s features. - Always check for a 2.5m height clearance, especially when parking under trees or entering covered carparks. - Obelix is powered by a solar system. It’s perfect for off-grid freedom, but please be mindful that heavy cloud cover can affect charging rates. - The van features Android Auto and multiple charging ports. Please bring your own USB cable for connection and charging.

Hiring rules

  • Distance: A generous allowance of 200km per day is included. Overages are charged at $0.50/km.
  • Fuel: Please return Obelix with a full tank of petrol.
  • Smoking/Vaping: To keep the van fresh for everyone, we have a strict no smoking/vaping policy.
  • Pets: To ensure the van remains allergenfree, we do not allow pets.
  • Cleanliness: Please return the van in a clean state. Your service fee covers professional sanitization and consumables, but not a deep interior clean. Failure to return the vehicle clean will result in an excess cleaning fee of $100.00.
  • Festivals: Please contact us first if you are planning to take Obelix to a music festival.
  • No towing allowed.
  • Hirer must be 21 years of age or older.

Cancellations

Strict

  • Cancel earlier than 45 days before the start of the booking and receive a full credit. Refunds available upon request (less any admin fees) and may take up to 30 days to process.
  • Cancel between 45 and 20 days before the start of booking and receive a 90% credit. Booking fees will not be credited.
  • Cancellations less than 20 days before the start of booking will not be eligible for any credit or refund.

    Matt has cleverly designed this van to include absolutely everything required for camping. It is a great size to drive anywhere including in town and the bed is big and comfortable. Matt was very easy to communicate with. Highly recommend.
