Freedom to explore, and get off the beaten track, with the ability to (following the rules) freedom camp all over New Zealand, with the comfort and knowledge that we are here to support you through your journey, and offer advice on where to go and what to do. Double bed, storage for x2 XL suitcases or backpacks, convient slide out kitchen and sink setup, awning, and a work space with laptop charging with a battery unit that chargers off the vehicle or solar. Rental includes Awning, Solar and Battery unit, Fridge, Stove and Gas, Table, Chairs, Cookware, and a basic pantry of herbs, spices, oils and sauces. Optional extras include a fun filled tandem bike with roof rack (suits one larger human and one smaller, but we're both 6ft tall and it fits us fine) and a stand-up paddleboard. Giovanni is fuel economical diesel engine, so here in NZ all Diesels are subject to Road User Chargers. This is a way of making Diesel cheaper at the pump for farmers etc, and is a nationally set "tax" of $76 per 1000kms, so $0.08 a km. This cost is passed onto the hirer, so if you're driving 100 kms a day, will be $8 per day. This will be taken out of your bond payment through camplify at the end of your rental, when we input how many KMs you do. We have not set a daily limit for kilometers, we just want you to have the freedom to explore at your pace. Adventure is out there. You've just got to go and find it. Option to include a Starlink Roam portable device. This needs to be set up each use. Please note we only have 1 device, and offer it across a few vans that we have on camplify, so please feel free to reach out to see whether or not it is available during your chosen dates to avoid disappointment after booking.

Hiring rules

  • If an accident occurs, get off the road, stay safe, if required, first call the emergency services, the number in NZ is 111. Then call Camplify on +643 668 1211. Option 4 for NZRA (24/7 Roadside Assistance). Then call us!
  • Minor damage here and there is an unfortunate reality of life on the road. We get it, things happen. If damage happens, please report it to us immediately. Who, what, where and when will be required if we have to make an insurance claim, or for smaller costs, we can work something out.
  • Offroading is not permitted.
  • Short stretches of unsealed roads to access a campsite (as per camplify's rules) is permitted.
  • Beach Driving (although fun) is not permitted
  • Not insured to travel to many of the ski field access roads. NO chains to be fitted to vehicle
  • NO SMOKING inside
  • All rentals are Full to Full, so please return with a full tank of PETROL
  • We have a clean the van for me option, so you can focus on the adventure, and we will do the cleaning for you on your return. If you opt to clean the van yourself, we do not expect perfection, but we do expect a reasonable level of cleanliness. We will provided basic cleaning equipment and there is a pay per minute car wash on Glenda Drive (5 mins from drop off location). Excessive cleaning required on the return with incur an additional cleaning fee.
  • Toilet, if used, must be emptied and cleaned. Toilet chemicals are supplied, and will need to be added before use. A fee of $200.00 will be charged for failure to return the toilet clean.
  • A good music playlist is required for all bookings.
  • Fun is not optional, as per New Zealand Road Trip laws.
  • Hirer must be 21 years of age or older.

Cancellations

Flexible

  • Cancel earlier than 10 days before the start of the booking and receive a full credit. Refunds available upon request (less any admin fees) and may take up to 30 days to process.
  • Cancel between 4 and 10 days before the start of the booking and receive 90% credit. Booking fees will not be credited.
  • Cancellations less than 4 days before the start of booking will not be eligible for any credit or refund.

    Me and my best mate just wrapped up 12 days road tripping around the South Island in Giovanni and absolutely unequivocally could not recommend Giovanni enough. We had not a single issue, had any and all facilities we required, and the owners Ben and Jono were extremely helpful giving us heaps of travel tips, additional bedding/towels and even including a coffee press and ground coffee for us! Cooking and cleaning is relatively hassle free, it has plenty of storage for clothes, and if you end up on any wet hikes like we did theres even a plastic bucket to keep dirty shoes and wet clothes until you next drive past a laundromat! (Cannot stress how convenient this was) This van has everything you need to fully experience the full extent of the South Island, please look no further!

    We had an amazing trip in Giovani, it had everything we needed and more. Ben and Jono were so helpful and extremely responsive leading up to and throughout the trip. We had really clear instructions for how to use everything in the van. They gave us awesome recommendations. Very flexible with pick up and drop off which made our travels easy. Really great value hire, would recommend!

    10/10 for Giovanni & for Jono and Ben! Had an awesome time exploring the South Island, and had zero issues with the van. Had everything we needed and more! Could not recommend more :)

Adventure is out there. All you've to do is walk out your front door. We love exploring new places, meeting new people, and immersing ourselves in new cultures.
