Explore New Zealand like a local - Matilda will make you feel right at home wherever you choose to park her! Matilda is an automatic 2011 Mazda Bongo with relatively low kms and runs to perfection. Matilda is our custom camper van that we've used for years to discover the South Island. She is small but mighty, designed to get you wherever you want to go easily and comfortably. Her compact size is perfect for navigating through towns and cities, finding parking and camp spots, and generally traveling without the hassles that naturally come with bigger campers. Despite her size, she is equipped with all the necessities you'll need for the perfect New Zealand adventure. With a brand new double bed that easily converts into a sitting/dining area and plenty of storage, Matilda is the perfect two-person van. The kitchen area has a sink with 25L clean water and 25L grey water tanks, as well as everything you'll need for cooking up a storm. A Yeti cooler will keep your food fresh and cold for days. You'll be set with camping chairs, a foldaway table, gas cooker, all kitchen utensils, cleaning products, fairy lights, and more. Hiring rules

  • No smoking inside the van
  • No cooking inside the van
  • No offroading or beach driving (please let us know if you plan to go on any unsealed roads before your trip)
  • A 200km per day distance allowance is included in the hire, averaged over the whole trip. For example, a 3 day trip will have 600km included in the hire, a 5 day trip will have 1,000km included, etc. Additional kms are charged .30c per km
  • If you receive a fine during your hire that we are notified about after your trip has finished, you must take full responsibility to pay the fine immediately
  • In an emergency If any engine lights come on the dashboard, pull over immediately. If an accident occurs, get off the road, stay safe, call emergency services on 111 if required. Or call Camplify on +643 668 1211 and choose 4 for roadside assistance. Then call us.
  • If damage happens, you must report it to Camplify immediately who, what, where and when will be required. Please be familiar with the T&Cs of insurance coverage
  • Hirer must be 21 years of age or older.

Cancellations

Flexible

  • Cancel earlier than 10 days before the start of the booking and receive a full credit. Refunds available upon request (less any admin fees) and may take up to 30 days to process.
  • Cancel between 4 and 10 days before the start of the booking and receive 90% credit. Booking fees will not be credited.
  • Cancellations less than 4 days before the start of booking will not be eligible for any credit or refund.

    We used this campervan for an 18-day trip around the South Island and it was perfect. The van was exactly as listed and came with everything we needed, including lots of thoughtful extras we wouldnt have thought to bring ourselves. Communication with Kali was great throughout quick replies and really helpful. We followed the itinerary provided which made the trip even better, with great camp spots, hikes and options that helped keep things budget-friendly. Highly recommend for anyone planning a South Island road trip! Thanks again guys :))

    I used Matilda for one week to travel the South Island. She was perfect! No troubles at all and is equipped with everything you need! Kali and Liam were excellent. Always responded quickly and happy to assist with anything. Would definitely recommend.

    We rented this little van to explore the South Island for 3 weeks! It was perfect for what we needed and had all the essentials. Owners were very quick to respond to messages and were very helpful providing info during our trip!

    We loved our 8 days in Matilda! We had no issues at all on our trip which took us to all around the stunning South Island. The van is very comfy to sleep in and the kitchen/utensils had everything we needed. She is a little slow up hills but it is easy enough to let others pass on those steep bits. Kali and Liam were super responsive and sent helpful suggestions ahead of our trip, which we used and loved. Thanks heaps guys!

    Enjoyed the Matilda, the beds were surprisingly comfy, and the van was equipped with all we needed to get stuck in. Kali and Liam were amazing hosts as well, super responsive, we would highly recommend the Matilda for your next campervan trip.

Hi! We're Kali and Liam, a couple from the US and the UK who have been living in Queenstown for the last 10 years. We bought our van during the pandemic in order to explore every nook and cranny of this beautiful country and we've loved every minute of it! We truly believe that the best way to see New Zealand is by camper van and our van has proven to provide everything necessary for the perfect, seamless road trip. As two full-time workers, we've found our beloved van not getting enough use out of us anymore and our goal with joining the Camplify community is to inspire others to get out and explore New Zealand in the most epic way possible!
