A short drive away you can visit Left Bank Art Gallery and support the local artists in the area. Cross the Grey River and take off on Lions Walk for some incredible views, or head down to Southern Breakwater Viewing Platform to watch the waves crashing in. Shantytown is also just 5 minutes down the road, where you can immerse yourself in gold mining history.

You’re right next door to the Tunnel Terrace Walk with its old mines, as well as the glittering Glow-Worm Dell.

5. Lake Mahinapua DOC Camping

If you’re a fan of water sports, then head to this Greymouth campsite and camp right next to Lake Mahinapua surrounded by forest.
Get out on the water each day or take off on one of the gorgeous walks: Bellbird Walk and Swimmers Beach Walk. Greymouth is about 30 minutes down the road and you can follow the water the entire way. If you’re looking for something a little different, check out West Coast Treetop Walk and Cafea few minutes down the road.
This is one of the bigger campsites near Greymouth with 100 non-powered spots to choose from. You also have access to boat launching, fishing off the jetty, shelter for cooking, flush toilets, water from the tap and cold showers.
6. Ahaura Domain Campground
