Over the past six years Rambling Rosie has been driven from one end of New Zealand to the other, literally from Cape Rienga to Bluff. Not the youngest cab on the rank, but certainly the friendliest, as our glowing reviews testify. The only complaint we hear is “We wish we had booked for longer”. “Rambling Rosie” is the love child of our retirement. We have travelled extensively in the Australian outback, and learned first-hand the essential and nice-to-have features you need for a care free motor homing holiday: • An external barbecue to cook on during long summer evenings. • A queen size bed set permanently in place. Having to dismantle the bed every day is a pain. • A good awning. • An automatic satellite dish for the TV. • A wireless router for internet access for all your devices. • An easy to read manual to remind you how everything in the van works. Rambling Rosie has all these essential and nice-to-have features, plus: • Built on a reliable Ford Transit chassis with a 5-speed manual transmission. Rosie easy to drive and the reversing cameras make backing a breeze. • It is certified self-contained for 6 people with three queen sized sleeping spaces. Bed linen, pillows and towels are provided, along with crockery, cutlery for 6 people, plus folding chairs and a table for outdoor use. • A fully-equipped kitchen with gas hob and grill, fridge/freezer, microwave (mains power only) and vent. • Air conditioning (mains power only) and a diesel heater for colder nights. • Shower and toilet. • TV with DVD player • 85-Watt solar panel allows unlimited off-grid touring. • A bike rack to accommodate two bikes or other gear. • A two person tent if you or the kids want to try sleeping in the bush or on the beach. We’ll go through you all the features during the handover (45mins). There are also maps and guides on board. We strongly advise our guests use soft luggage rather than hard suitcases. “Rambling Rosie” is garaged in Hamilton but we will happily arrange pick up or drop off at Auckland Airport or the city. “Rambling Rosie” is the love child of our retirement. By way of market research we traveled quite extensively in the Australian outback in rented motor homes before we bought one of our own. Our Aussie travels introduced us to some nice-to -have features for Rambling Rosie. > An external barbecue to cook outdoors on our wonderful long evenings. Our guests even cooked their own freshly caught fish! > The capacity to have the queen size bed set permanently in place. Take it from me having to dismantle the bed every day to make space (for living) is a pain. > A good awning for shade. > An automatic satellite dish for the TV. Who wants to fiddle around with a manual system? > A customized manual to explain the detailed workings of the van. > Built on a reliable Ford Transit chassis with a 5-speed manual transmission makes it a pleasure to drive. Reversing cameras make backing a breeze. > Certified self-contained for 6 people. Three queen sized sleeping spaces. Linen and bedding provided, as well as folding chairs and a table for outdoor use. > Fully-equipped kitchen with gas hob and grill, fridge/freezer, microwave (240V only) and vent. > Air conditioning (240V only) and diesel heater for a comfortable living space. Shower and toilet. > TV Satellite system and a DVD player > 85-Watt solar panel which operates off 12-volt power when not plugged into the mains. > Built in Internet router so you can access the internet while you are travelling. “Rambling Rosie” has allowed our guests to enjoy New Zealand in their own way – from hunting goats to riding horses through Lord of the Rings country. For those who want to try the genuine kiwi camping experience, a two-person tent and sleeping bags are available on request. There is a bike rack to accommodate two bikes or other gear. A detailed user manual is included, but please allow 45mins for us to show you all the features. There are also maps and guides (including a fishing manual). We can also provide a GPS. “Rambling Rosie” is garaged in Hamilton but we will happily arrange a pick up or drop off in Auckland or Auckland Airport.

Our family of 6 had a wonderful trip from Hamilton to Wellington and back, with stops along the way. The van was well equipped with all the essentials including an excellent heater to keep us warm on the winter nights. The wifi kept the kids occupied while we travelled. All in all a great way to travel with the family.

We rented the van for 3 weeks in Feb 2024. We picked it up from Hamilton and went south to Queenstown and back with no issues. Hugh and Rosaleen were really helpful and responsive all the time. They helped us with planning our trip before arriving in NZ, especially with the ferry booking.

We loved our trip in Rosie. The van was perfect for a family group. It had everything you need to off grid (freedom) camping. Would recommend booking this van. Cheers Chris
