Our 2 week NZ adventure in Matty took us to lots of places. We travelled North from Auckland then across to the Coromandel Peninsula, Mt Maunganui, Rotorua, Taupo, Hamilton and Cambridge. She is very vintage and is in need of some TLC, a lot of things were not in good working order and should be fixed if hiring out commercially. - drivers door lock very stiff, we were worried they key would break - passenger seat stuck in recline position - upon return the owner managed to adjusted the seat with force and advised you had to adjust it while not sitting in it - advertised as TV but only works as a DVD player - hard to pair stereo system, had to download app and sign up, no instructions on how to use it - cabin climate control doesnt work properly, vents broken - water pump needs to be turned on every time you use the tap - grey water outlet hose held together with duct tape, it leaks - stove cupboard keeps coming open when you drive - flywire on roof vent is missing - external light doesnt work - step broken, have to use a fold out plastic step - continual strong fume/oil smell in cabin when driving making your eyes and throat sting at the end of the day. We were told this is normal for Matty. Upon our return the owner told us that he noticed after the last service (6 months prior) the engine bay cowling wasnt put back in place, having fumes come into the cabin is not normal and a safety hazard We hired the linen but were disappointed, only one single mattress protector (probably an oversight) a sheet that didnt fit the bed and a doona that was too small for the cover, they were warm and cosy though. I know this all sounds negative, but @$244 per day, these things should be rectified before hiring out. Matty was comfortable to sleep in and drives well, albeit a bit noisy and maximum speed of around 90km/h. Despite all this, we did have a good time around the North Island, meeting lovely people and seeing stunning scenery. Jody was responsive to our questions about how things worked in the van and could explain how to use them. Matty is well presented on the surface but definitely needs some attention before being hired out again.

Jody is an amazing and so helpful especially for first time motor campers like us. We were able to hit the road running and managed to explore many places. Answered every questions while on the road so had great communication. The campervan reminds me of an old and faithful person who over times can be relied on and will always be there. Got us to Taranaki, Rotorua, Waitomo, Whakapapa within 6 Days. Was able to sleep at Mt Taranaki for the night as well and walk out to the view. This motorhome created a core memory for a lifetime for me and my children. Thank you Jody.

Our family has an amazing time travelling in Hakuna Matata. Comfortable and has everything you need. Yummy complimentary biscuits and chocolate was a nice touch.

We had a great experience hiring hakuna matata camper van from Jody & Ant! They were incredibly friendly, and their communication was awesome. They were also very understanding, making the whole process smooth. It was a quick trip for us, and we only wish we had booked for more days! Highly recommend hiring their camper vanyou wont be disappointed!

We spent a month in Matty. We had a great time. Jodie provided all our bedding and it was comfortable to sleep in. The hob was great for cooking and all kitchen equipment was provided. The loo was easy to use and clean. We didnt use the shower but it worked fine. We got use to filling up with water and camper-van life quickly. There was plenty of storage. Ant and Jodie kindly kept our cases at their house so we had more room. They also kindly collected us at the start of our trip and returned us to our onward journey at the end. Which went above and beyond. Jodie left us biscuits and chocolate at the start of our trip. Many thanks to you both we have fond memories of Matty.

We had such a lovely weekend in Hakuna Matata, such a cosy and comfortable campervan. Easy to drive and a gorgeous home on wheels. The bed is very comfortable, the kitchen has everything you need. Jodi was very friendly and helpful - overall a great experience!

Hakuna Matata very was clean, well-maintained, and ready to go when we picked it up. Jody gave us a thorough walkthrough before hitting the road, which made us feel at ease and provided us all the necessities we needed while on the road and away from home. My kids specially love the cookies and chocolates as a welcome gift. If youre looking for an adventure with a lot of flexibility and comfort, I highly recommend renting Hakuna Matata. Its the perfect way to connect with nature while still having the comforts of home. Our family had a great time indeed! Thank you very much Jody and Hakuna Matata

Matty was a great wee runner for her age. Unfortunately she is in need of some professional TLC as comes with age. Moss growing around the windows that had been there for some time. Rubber seals and mesh on windows need replacing as comes with age. When a gust of wind caught the door as I was getting out in day 3 of 9, it wouldn't open again. We had no idea of where to find locksmith so had to return to Jody unfixed but happy to pay. Overall, the running of Matty was good with automatic and tiptronic gears, struggled a little on the bigger hills, but we got there .
