Great Van, I would recommend for a trip. Good value for 3 people

The vehicle was supposedly serviced, but the tyres were underinflated. It looked clean on the outside, but as soon as you lifted a mat or looked in a storage compartment, you found dirt. The fuel and water tanks were not full, and there was grey water in the tank. Interior: doors that were difficult or impossible to close (it was best to lock them before slamming the door and make sure you took the key with you when you got out), radio that didn't work and Bluetooth that was impossible to find, mobile phone holder that was useless, passenger mirror that couldn't be adjusted, drivers neither, and screws that fell out of the dashboard from time to time. Rear: cobbled together. Everything that is glued (embrasures, nets) comes unstuck (which is very annoying for visibility), screw placed 3mm from the edge of the Triplex torn off, unsurprisingly, the little storage space available is cluttered with boxes of old, sticky peanut butter samples with holes in them, expired sunscreen, used batteries and other poisonous gifts in dirty containers. The numerous cushions are useful for containing the dust that enters the vehicle through the hole in the bodywork (which we have plugged with toilet paper) and the lack of sealing on the tailgate and doors. Why is the chemical toilet in the vehicle not secured? This would easily make the van self-contained, which it is not! Boot: the armrests on the garden seats are broken... While the engine doesn't show its 240,000 km, the suspension makes a sinister noise on both sides when you turn the steering wheel fully. In short, the vehicle does not correspond at all to the image given of it.

The holiday in Big Red was perfect. Communication with Danielle was straight forward and pick up and drop off was uncomplicated. There was everything we needed in the van! More than enough bedding was provided as well as towels and all the equipment needed for cooking. Big Red drove without any mechanical problems and we felt completely safe during our trip - I cant think of any negative points - we had the best time and wont hesitate in hiring again when we next visit NZ.

My partner and I hired the Delica from Danielle for 3 weeks and toured around the South Island. The roof-top tent was great and could be put up and down in a few minutes. Even on a few windy nights, the tent felt safe and secure. The Delica had everything we needed, was easy to drive in the variable NZ terrain, was small and nimble compared to larger camper vehicles and was fuel efficient.

This is quite an extensive review. I tried to communicate everything to the owner; however, due to limited time and my imperfect memory, not everything that is written here was discussed. Negatives: - Incorrect suspension alignment causing the vehicle to constantly pull to the right (while driving, you have to steer slightly to the left all the time). - It is stated that the caravan should not be used off-road; however, we had issues even when parking at a campsite in Te Anau. - Related to the two points above, the tyres should be replaced. - The indicators sometimes get stuck the indicator light on the dashboard stays on, but there is no clicking sound (not sure what is happening externally). - The vehicle sometimes locks the rear doors, and no amount of using the key or central locking seems to help (we were unable to open the rear and side door for one full day). - The rear doors sometimes open slightly by themselves. Nothing fell out, but rain could get inside. We had to check the rear door every time we stopped. - The seals on most doors could be serviced (or possibly replaced), as cold air could be felt coming into the caravan. - Fuel consumption is quite high, although this is understandable given the age and weight of the vehicle. - The sink was not working; we reported this during the rental and it should be fixed now. - The brakes feel weak and require a long stopping distance. Positives: - It was the cheapest option available (even compared to regular cars). - We completed our journey. - sheets were clean

We had the absolute time of our lives in Big Red! There was plenty of room for our family of four - our two kids loved the bunks and really enjoyed traveling around and exploring in Big Red. We drove all around the South Island and didnt have a problem. The battery was fully charged by the solar, we didnt have to plug into power for the entire 11 day trip. Big Red was stocked with lots of essentials, we also added more for future bookings. The black out curtains made it easy to sleep and sleep in which was so helpful as our little ones like their rest. We dont have a bad word to say about Big Red. We were very sad to hand the keys back and will definitely be coming over to NZ and booking through Dani again. Thank you so much!! We had a lovely holiday and the van was everything we needed! No power steering took some time to get used to but was never an issue. It was an easy hire and Dani was a great host. We would recommend Little Red.

A poem for those considering big red: Our time in big red was a magnificent one, Beautiful views on our travels and lying in the sun. Big red contained all we could ask for, Facilities, bedding, meals and much more! Easy to drive, everything we needed, Advice from Danielle we sure heeded! Communication with Danielle was quick and very clear, Before we knew we were in big red and on our adventure we did steer! Thank you to Danielle and of course big red, These travels well remember in our times ahead!
