Stop at Cape Kidnappers (just 23km south of Napier) for dramatic views of the craggy cliffs, home to the largest gannet colony in the world.
If you'd like to break up the trip, spend a night or two at one of the best Masterton camping grounds!
Stay at the Hawkes Bay Holiday Park, which boasts over 50 powered and unpowered camping sites starting at about $19 per night. The campground is 6km out of Napier but the sites are spacious and the facilities are clean and well-maintained.
