1. Mt Aspiring Holiday Park

This is one of our favourite Wanaka camping grounds, nestled in the hills just five minutes from the shores of Lake Wanaka. It’s the ideal spot to relax and unwind in nature, soaking up some amazing views while enjoying the mountain air. Located just 3km from the town centre, it is the closest holiday park to Roy’s Peak.
Get out and about with a variety of outdoor activities in the region, from bike riding and tramping to fishing, lake cruises and skydiving! Right on the footstep of Mt Aspiring National Park, you can take on one of the many hikes or even enjoy a helicopter ride over the stunning glaciers.
This campsite has everything you need for an enjoyable stay, no matter the time of year. There’s a swimming pool with a water slide, playground, trampoline and games room for the kids. Campers can also enjoy the shared kitchen facilities, which include crockery, cutlery, microwaves, oven, kettle, toaster and fridge space. Plus, the electric BBQ makes mealtimes a breeze.
2. Wanaka TOP 10 Holiday Park

Wanaka TOP 10 Holiday Park is conveniently located centrally in town, sheltered from the wind for a cosy stay. It’s just a short 2.2km stretch from the park to town, taking you past the famous Wanaka tree and along the edge of the lake.
With four distinct seasons, you can visit Wanaka all-year round and get plenty of enjoyment out of it! Explore the Lavender Farm in the warmer months, go skiing at Cardrona in Winter, take in the views on Rob Roy Glacier Track or hike Diamond Lake Track. Plus, the start of the trail to Roy’s Peak is only a five-minute drive away.
At the end of a busy day exploring the local area, Wanaka TOP 10 is the perfect base to come back to each evening. Located just a 5-minute walk from central Wanaka, this is one of the most conveniently-located Wanaka camping grounds. Whether you’re staying with the family or have come ready to unleash your inner thrillseeker, there’s so much to enjoy during your stay.
Get out for some fun on the Clutha river and see a different side of Lake Wanaka. If you aren’t afraid of heights, then climb alongside Twin Falls in West Wanaka. Or enjoy a spot of skydiving while you take in some incredible views! The kids will love exploring Puzzling World, or checking out the beautiful Lavender Farms.
Back at camp, there are two facility blocks to enjoy throughout your stay, with a fully equipped kitchen and access to hot showers. There are also laundry facilities and a dry room for those snowboarding days. Kids will enjoy the two playgrounds, and the indoor hot tub!

4. Albert Town Campground

Address: Lake Hawea Road, State highway 6 mail to, Lakeview Holiday Park, Wanaka 9382 | Price per night: $10 per adult, $5 per child (15 yrs and under, 5 yrs and under are free) on the Clutha river side of the campground. $7 per adult, $3.50 per child (15 yrs and under, 5 yrs and under are free) on the Hawea river side of the campground
At Albert Town Campground, you can choose a spot on the Clutha or Hawea Rivers, with no bookings needed. Simply turn up, find a spot and pay to stay.
There are heaps of bike tracks just waiting to be explored near this Wanaka camping ground, including the popular Deans Bank Track. You can also enjoy a spot of fly fishing right there at the campsite. Around the area, you will find plenty of delicious cafes and restaurants, with Hook giving you the chance to catch your own salmon and have it cooked onsite.
The Clutha side campground has basic facilities with flush toilets, running water and a rubbish skip. The Hawea side has long drop toilets and no running water. The dump station is in Wanaka beside the Wanaka Lakeview Holiday Park.
