Abel Tasman National Park

Who doesn’t love a little backyard tropical paradise? No need to fly to Fiji when the Abel Tasman National Park is on your doorstep. Think white sandy beaches, tropical waters and adventures galore. The Abel Tasman is an untouched paradise just waiting for you to arrive. Get up close and personal with the sea life on a kayak adventure or stroll the iconic Abel Tasman coastal track for the day. If you need more exploration head over the Takaka Hill and lose yourself in beachy goodness at Golden Bay and Farewell Spit. The Abel Tasman is a locally loved retreat, spend some time here, we promise it’s worth it.

Abel Tasman NP

Mount Cook National Park

Long winding roads, the bluest glacially-fed lake you will ever see and New Zealand tallest mountain live right here. The mighty Aoraki, Mount Cook is a sight to be seen. Towering 3,724m this dominating peak stands strong. Some of the finest day walks in the country are nestled in this national park, meaning you are never far from adventure. Take a hike on the Hooker Valley Track, explore Sealy Tarns or head to Kea Point in search of the only alpine parrot in the world.

Fiordland & Milford Sound

No trip to New Zealand’s South Island is complete without a trip to Milford Sound. Fondly known as the 8th wonder of the world thanks to ol’ mate Rudyard Kipling, Milford Sound is the Jewel in Fiordland’s crown. This national park spans a whopping 1.2 million hectares but with only one road in and out, you will be on the right track for a memorable adventure. The Milford Road is a destination in itself with day hikes, scenic spots, wildlife and more. We suggest taking your time. The end of the road reveals the iconic Mitre Peak and also the only place to camp, the Milford Sound Lodge.

Queenstown & Wanaka

The Southern Lakes is the home to ski fields, iconic hikes and two quaint little towns that most flock to visit, and for good reason. A plethora of adrenaline activities awaits you in Queenstown, world-renowned as the home of adventure. Jet boats, sky diving and bungy jumping are on offer, with an activity for everyone, even the kids. The Southern Lakes is peppered with free, DOC and paid campgrounds so you can base yourself for endless days of fun.

State Highway One – Kaikoura

The ultimate road trip

State Highway One is possibly the most scenic coastal road in New Zealand. The longest and most significant road runs the length of both islands, but let’s focus on the South Island. From Christchurch, head north to Kaikoura and be prepared to have your socks well and truly blown off. Sweeping coastline, fur seals galore and a road so close to the ocean, you can feel the salty breeze in your hair. Clear your cameral roll and fight for the passenger seat to capture every stretch of this iconic road.
