Fun road trip games for two
)
Grab your better half and take off on a road trip adventure around New Zealand! This will be a once-in-a-lifetime experience you’ll both remember forever. That said, the part many travellers don’t plan for is how to pass time on the long drives between each incredible destination. If you’re looking for great ways to stay entertained, then it’s time to pull out some fun road trip games for two!
There’s nothing better than a little friendly competition on the open road. Here are six road trip games for two players you can’t go wrong with - enjoy hours of laughs and plenty of entertainment as you cruise to your next camping spot or pit stop.
6 Road Trip Games For Two Players
Game 1: Two Truths, One Lie

First on our list of road trip games for two is Two Truths, One Lie. There’s no better chance to get to know each other a little more than with this enlightening little game! It’s an oldie, but boy is it a goodie. Who knows what you will discover about each other that you didn’t already know - it’s a great conversation starter when you think you’ve covered every topic already!
The game is simple. One person goes first and it’s up to them to think of two things that are true about them, and one thing that is a lie. It might be something you’ve done, something that has happened to you, or just personal facts.
For this game, the goal is short and sweet: for example, “I once climbed Mt Kilimanjaro”. Now it’s up to your partner to catch you out and work out which one is the lie!
Game 2: Trivia Crack
You can’t go wrong with some great apps to keep you busy on a road trip when it’s just the two of you. Start by inspiring a little healthy competition with Trivia Crack!
There are six different categories for you to choose from, which means hours of entertainment on the road. The friendly spinner, Willy, will pick the questions at random, so the two of you are just left to compete!
The first to get to six crowns wins the round. If you’re feeling up to it, you can even add in your own questions about places you’re travelling to.
Game 3: Local Cuisine
While you’re travelling the sights, you want to immerse yourself in as much food and culture as possible. Here’s a fun way to do this!
Each time you stop at a petrol station, you both have to buy a local food item - the crazier the better! Once you’re back in the campervan, share and rate your purchases. The winner is the wackiest, or tastiest find, whichever you prefer!
It’s a great way to taste some of the local flavours while keeping you entertained.
You can also mix things up and branch out beyond food. See who can walk out of a tourist shop with the quirkiest gift possible! You’ll have plenty of fun searching high and low.
Game 4: Name the Most…
Here’s an easy game the two of you can play together. Take it in turns to pick a category (trying to play at your own strengths!). For example, cars, Disney princesses, fruits, etc.
Then go back and forth calling out things in this category until someone gets stuck.
You can also mix it up and make it a bit harder by going alphabetically. The first person starts at A and names something beginning with it, then the next person moves on to name something that starts with the letter B and so on, through the alphabet. It’s definitely an added challenge and is one of the best road trip games for two that is sure to entertain!
Game 5: Name that Tune

If you’re after a game that’s a little more laid back, then settle into your seat and simply listen to the music on the radio. Whenever a new song comes on, see who can guess what it is first. Bonus points for the correct name and the artist!
You can keep score or enjoy the music without the need for (too much) competition.
If you’re looking to add some more fun, scan the campervan for some local radio stations and choose when to stop. The driver now has to try and guess the song. You can then scan the radio for them on their turn, and stop when they tell you to. This adds an extra challenging element to the game (and means you don’t have to wait until the end of the song to keep playing).
Game 6: Holiday Memory Game

Round off your list with a memory game to keep you thinking for the entire ride. It’s one of the best road trip games for two, potentially even giving you some packing inspiration - or helping you to remember any forgotten items!
Start off the sentence with, “I’m going on holiday and I’m taking…” then add your first item. Your partner then repeats this sentence with your item and adds another. Each round you add item after item and have to correctly remember each one in order. This one will definitely be a test of both the memory - and your relationship!
Be warned: if your memories are up to scratch then this game could go on for a while. The perfect way to kill a bit of time on the road.
