Motorhome storage ideas for saving space
1. Sliding baskets and storage bins inside cupboards

The best way to organise your cupboards and drawers is to install stacked storage bins and sliding baskets. Plastic containers tend to work best in the kitchen and bathroom, as they keep contents safe from water. And if they are see-through, you’ll always be able to find exactly what you’re looking for.
In the bedroom, you might prefer to use canvas boxes for organising your wardrobe. They tend to be larger and more flexible, so you can squeeze more in tighter spaces.

2. Collapsible kitchen utensils

You only have to take a look in your kitchen drawers at home to know how much space the average set of cooking utensils takes up. Colanders, kettles, mixing bowls, storage containers - all space invaders. These days, however, you can buy collapsible kitchen utensils, which will save a heap of motorhome storage space in your kitchen.
3. Stackable bowls and cups

A great space-saving idea for your motorhome is to buy cups and bowls that come in stackable sets. This way, you can fit multiple vessels in one. Plus, they’re fairly affordable and most are made of BPA-free plastic, meaning they won’t smash when sliding around.
4. Hanging fruit hammocks or baskets
One of the most common motorhome storage ideas we see is hanging fruit hammocks and baskets. By suspending your fruit in mid-air, not only do you save bench space, but you also prevent it from rolling around and bruising. Plus, it even adds a splash of colour to your interior (something you can learn more about in our article on how to decorate a motorhome)!
5. Dish cradles
Placing a dish cradle next to your stacked bowls and cups is a wise idea. By storing your plates vertically, they take up less storage space. But it also means that you don’t need to take everything off the top of them every time you reach for a dish.
6. Multiple uses for paper towel racks
Fixing a paper towel rack on your kitchen wall is a great storage idea if you want to save bench space. But paper towel isn’t the only thing you can keep on a rack! Stick up multiple racks and use them to store your garbage bags, plastic wrap and aluminium foil.
7. Hang things from the wall

Most people don’t make the most of the empty walls in their motorhome. You can save a heap of storage space by hanging stuff like pots, pans, chopping boards, cooking utensils, organisers and clothes from the walls in the kitchen, bathroom and bedroom.
In the kitchen, consider installing a pegboard or magnetic strip behind the countertop. Some people even put up gripper clips for storing utensils and small containers like salt and pepper shakers.
In the bathroom and bedroom, you can use something as simple as an adhesive hook or coat rack for hanging towels, keys, hats, jackets and other items.
8. Hanging mason jars

This is one of the most aesthetically pleasing motorhome storage ideas that we’ve come across. Use some screws to attach the lid of a mason jar to the underside of your kitchen cupboard. When you’re done using your mason jar, screw it back onto its lid. Wallah!
9. Cover your stove and sink for more bench space

Bench space is a precious commodity in motorhomes. Create some extra benchtop space by finding a cover or chopping board that is large enough to cover your stovetop or sink. Preferably, it should be perfectly sized to just sit inside the lip of your sink, so that it doesn’t slide around. Placing some suction cups on the underside of the chopping board might also help it to stay in place.
10. Over-sink shelves and drying racks

Just like the over-sink chopping board, an over-the-sink shelf or drying rack is another clever motorhome storage idea for increasing bench space. And the best part is, all the residue washing water simply drips back into the sink. You can even find roll-up drying racks and collapsible dish racks, which will help you save more space again.
11. Store plastic bags in an old container
Sick of having hundreds of plastic shopping bags taking up storage space in your motorhome? Gather them all up and stuff them inside a used plastic container, such as an old milk bottle, coffee can or wipe container.
12. Shower caddies

A caddy is a rather obvious space-saving idea in the shower. But consider hanging a few more caddies off of hooks around the bathroom. That way, you don’t need to try and stuff all your toiletries in the cupboard. And it makes it a lot easier to find that moisturiser or deodorant you’re looking for.
13. Spice rack in the bathroom cupboard
Not only is a spice rack a clever storage idea for the kitchen, but it can also help you organise your toiletries in the bathroom cupboard. Simply attach the spice rack to the inside of the cupboard door and stow away your toothpaste, brushes and creams.
14. A shampoo and soap dispenser

Why waste space with loose shampoo, conditioner and soap bottles? Grab yourself a dispenser that you can stick to the shower wall. Empty your bottles into the top of the dispenser and be done with them!
15. Vertical toilet paper dispenser
Stacking toilet paper in the bathroom cupboard is a total waste of space. Only buy 3 or 4 rolls at a time and stack them vertically on a toilet paper dispenser. Some dispensers are even enclosed and will prevent your rolls from getting wet and soggy.
16. Bed caddy
Don’t have room for a bedside table in your motorhome? No worries! Buy a cheap fabric bed caddy that can hang out from underneath your mattress and store your glasses, phone, tablet, books and other knick-knacks.
17. Repurpose unused spaces

Most people find that there’s a part of their motorhome that they never really use. The bunk beds? The second dining area? Whatever that space may be, consider converting it into an area that you would use more often, such as a small office or storage area.
18. Shoe rack
It’s easy to toss your shoes at the bottom of your bedroom cupboard and forget about them - but it quickly turns into an unorganised mess. Save space and make it easy to find the pair of sneakers you’re after by installing a multi-level shoe rack at the bottom of your cupboard.
19. Vacuum sealed bags
If you’re going to be travelling in your motorhome for a while, chances are that you’ll be taking large and bulky items like extra clothes, coats, blankets and pillows. Folding these items up is going to waste a tonne of storage space. Instead, place them inside vacuum-sealed bags and dramatically reduce the amount of room they take up.
20. Storage in your seats

Replace bench seats with storage seats, so that you can take the cushioned lid off and keep your things inside. Hidden (and comfortable) motorhome storage space!
