Custom delivery tiers help caravan owners win more holiday bookings

Camplify Team

Delivery pricing transparency just got a major upgrade. Owners across New Zealand and Australia can now set custom distance-based delivery tiers (towable RV's only) that hirers see upfront when making a hire request.

The challenge has always been uncertainty. Hirers searching for peak holiday periods often hesitate to request a booking when delivery costs aren't visible from the start. That uncertainty stops bookings before they even begin, especially during busy summer months when every inquiry counts.

How delivery pricing tiers work

When you set your tiers, hirers can see the exact delivery fee at the time they make a request. The pricing is based on distance from your location to their chosen caravan park. No guessing, no back-and-forth messages, no abandoned bookings halfway through the process.

This applies to delivery bookings only - where you drop off and set up your van at a caravan park, and it stays there for the duration of the hire. It doesn't apply to drivable vans, airport drop-offs, or standard pickup arrangements where hirers collect directly from your location.

Three key benefits for owners

Win more holiday bookings. Hirers searching for peak holiday periods can book with confidence when the full cost is clear from the start. Summer and Easter periods see the highest demand for delivery, and transparent pricing removes the biggest booking barrier.

Fair pricing by distance. Charge less for the trip down the road, more for the long haul. Your pricing reflects your actual time and fuel costs rather than a one-size-fits-all approach that might undervalue longer deliveries or price out local hirers.

Stay competitive locally. A sharp local rate for your closest caravan parks helps you capture hirers who want convenience and certainty. These "stay and play" hirers often book longer trips when they know exactly what they're paying upfront.

Setting up your delivery tiers

If you're a caravan owner and have selected "Deliver" as a hire type, head to Listing > Manage > Pricing in your dashboard and select Add delivery tier.

You can set up to three custom distance ranges per listing. Hirers will see these options clearly at the time of their booking request, making the process transparent and straightforward for everyone.

Setting tiers is completely optional. If you choose not to set them, nothing about your current pricing changes. Your existing per-kilometre model continues working exactly as it does now.

Getting your pricing right

Not sure what to charge? The IRL current kilometre rate for petrol vehicles is $1.17/km and Diesel $1.26 — a useful starting point when setting your tiers. Many owners are finding success with tiered approaches that account for both distance and the convenience factor of delivery to popular holiday destinations.

Consider your local caravan parks for competitive short-distance rates, then scale up for regional and remote deliveries where your time and fuel costs increase significantly.
